Could Garry Cook Be.......

Give me a cheque for 100m and another for 500k a week, and I reckon I could probably tempt Milan and Kaka into doing business.

He's not exactly driving a hard bargain now, is he?!!

A bit harsh. The really top class players are interested in winning trophies also.

Gary Cook has got sell a dream and a vision based on a dynasty that the club are trying to build.

I know that might seem 'pye in the sky' at present but you've got to believe that if you are sat across the table from these guys.

Alex Furguson had to do the same in the late eighties when a lot of rags I knew thought they'd never win the title again. He had to sell the dream.

We'll have to agree to disagree then, i'm afraid.

Ferguson didn't have the equivalent of what Cook's got to play with. This has much more to do with cold hard cash than it does about any dream-selling. In my opinion, of course.

True, but they're only numbers made up by the papers (hopefully)

I think Cook deserves a lot of credit for the Robinho deal, we got that sorted so quickly, the City of old would have fucked it up and been a laughing stock as per

If we get Kaka and a couple of other good signings, I expect the doom merchants n here to shut the fuck up and stop worrying, it might be safe to say we are in safe hands for the first time in a long time

Mate that will never happen! Im sure some people like being a City fan so they can moan and be miserable. Just look at DB's post? Just cant give credit where its due. A few new signings wonty change the way people think, theyre born negative.

That much we know is true. I've seen transfer figures quoted from £91m to £260m and weekly wages from £200k to £500k. Let's face it nobody knows what it's going to cost us and the papers are guilty of sensationalism at is worst when it comes to figures.

I agree with that. A shrewd businessman would be able to sign players like that on the minimum transfer fee and minimum wages you can offer. Gary Cook just walks in with a bag of cash and stuns the other club with how much money they'll make.

I'm not sure because none of us have any real idea what part Cook plays or has played in negotiations to date. What we are seeing at the moment is the end game played out as theatre for the benefit of the media and the paying punters. The deal will have taken a while to hammer out and in my opinion is already done. It won't be just about money either but convincing Kaka that City is the place to be for the forseeable future. Someone or some people do deserve credit for this but who played what part is anyones guess. Personaly I think it is more ADUG directly behind the scenes but if you want to give Cook the kudos then fine.

What this deal does do is open the door even further to big name signings and also means that we need to translate this sort of coup onto the football pitch PDQ otherwise momentum is lost and the big names start scratching their heads and wondering what the f**k they are doing here. All this dicking around at the foot of the table, getting knocked out of cups and bollocks in the dressing room has to stop.

Wasn't the Robinho signing negotiated by the Arab's own men, according to reports?

I might be wrong

Are you SURE you're a blue ? you always seem to try and find the negative angle or are you that dogmatic that you can't face the fact that the people you've been criticisng incessently just 'might' be doing a great job behind the scenes.

Why have a dog and wag the tail yourself ?

Are you sure you can distinguish between a question and a criticism?

Failing that, how about answering the query?

No. He just hangs around here for the hell of it.

Seriously is raising a point not allowed on here anymore?

I don't agree! I think we'll have to convince the really top players that this club are building a team that will mount a sustained and capable challenge for all the top honours. If we (i.e. Cook) does it well, he can create a pioneer culture amongst the players, rather than them feeling like sell-outs. This will be vitally important if we're to keep their morale and performances up.

Actually, a true blue would realise that Hughes' surprised demeanour at the news of us bagging Robby, whilst he was playing golf, should be enough to tell you he had nowt to do with that deal.

All points answered.

What a stupid argument.
