This won't be an issue for City at all. The rules when they come into full effect will be very similar to what is already in place for the champions league and isn't based on nationality but on where players were trained. This is roughly what it is but I could be wrong on some of the specific numbers: In the squad of 26 you must have 4 players trained at the club for at least 3 years from the age of 18 or younger and a further 4 trained at clubs in England from 18 or younger. If you don't have enough players that meet these requirements you just leave a blank space in the squad for everyone you are short. and players under the age of 21 don't have to be registered in the squad no matter where they have come from.
So at city we have players trained at the club(who will have spent 3 years here by the time they have to be registered):
Ireland, SWP, Micah, Ned, Joe Hart, Weiss, Boyata, Ibrahim, Cunningham, Vidal, Michael Johnson and thats just does who would be considered part of the squad now in future this couldalso include the likes of Helan, Zander, Nimley etc.
Players trained in England:
Barry, Bridge, Lescott, Given, Bellers, A. Johnson, Taylor, and of course all the players mentioned above also count as being trained in England.
A better way of thinking about it is actually that rather than having a squad of 26 with 8 players meeting the requirements think of it as only being aloud to have 16 players who aren't trained in England or at the club.
Of our current squad that would be:
Pab Zab, Garrido, Sylvinho, Petrov, Santa Cruz, Viera, Ade, Toure, Kompany, De Jong, Tevez and Nielsen.
Thats 12 players so we could still afford to have another 4 non-english palyers under these rules
