Could we have gone unbeaten in the league?

Pretty pointless discussion really other than highlighting our lack of cover for Rodri.

Whats to say if Rodri didn't get suspended, he could of been injured at Villa and missed 3 months. Its a daft conversation.

Lets hope we can get a top class 6/8 this summer who can give us that cover when we need it.

Maybe if Liverpool get relegated or Anfield gets knocked down.

But in all seriousness we pretty much always play to win and never settle for a draw so over 38 games we're gonna get a couple of those mad days where nothing goes in and the opposition take every chance.

You don't think that the fact if we'd not lost 3 games then we'd have gone unbeaten isn't worthy of a standalone thread.

Fair enough ;)

I think all our league defeats involved deflected goals didn’t they? Wolves, Villa, Arsenal?
Yes but those are a fact of life. We get 'em also. The bigger issue is Wolves where the winning goal was scored by someone who shouldn't have been on the pitch.

If we'd gone unbeaten in those three games without Rodri we'd have won the league much earlier and taken our eye off it at the end, so we would have probably lost at Spurs who would have been chasing Champions League football against a City team with nothing to play for but fitness ahead of the FA Cup final.

Arsenal picked up 90 points in their unbeaten season. We've pulled more than 90 points several teams even though we've lost games.

The dippers have gone above 90 points twice when falling to win the title.

Yes but so could any team if they didnt lose. Just an odd thought process. there's been plenty of teams that have been far, far closer to unbeaten seasons we were the only side to beat mourinhos chelsea courtesy of an early Anelka penalty back in the day. Part of me wishes we would have drew that just to shut up those boring arsenal fans who claim the invincible were better than any other side simply because they didn't lose when in reality they aren't as good as any of the numerous sides that recorded more than 90 points. It's such a nothing side stat that's given a weird amount of importance.

Oddly, the defeats we suffered last season were far easier to take than some of the draws, we got outplayed by villa and wolves with on the Arsenal defeat being a flukely smash and grab via a deflection, the draws to chelsea, palace, arsenal and dippers wete far more frustrating for me.
