Countries Never to have a club Qualify for the Group Stages of European Competition

Derry play in the Republic of Ireland league.
They are in European conference league at moment.
Playing 2nd leg in Dublin next week in the qualifying section.

Funnily enough, they wanted to play in Northern Ireland at a large venue . couldn't as it was out of their jurisdiction.
They couldn't play it at their home ground, as it didn't meet the requirements set out by UEFA to host a European game.

The days of listening to a crackling radio listening to Carl zeiss zena v Newport are long gone sadly …

Think a Cliftonville v Rangers game would be interesting though .

I was surprised that they weren't allowed play it in Northern Ireland.
As someone else said, they don't actually play in the NI league, but in a "foreign" league (though their fans might argue that point!). So maybe the NI football association wouldn't let them play in another club's stadium. This is pure guesswork on my part!

You are correct.
They could only play in their own "jurisduction"
Load of cobblers really.

That's happened to several Welsh teams in recent years. I think Newtown and possibly TNS can use their usual grounds and Bangor City might also be up to standard.
I'm not sure TNS were at their current ground when we played them in Cardiff 20 years ago.

Wrexham, Bangor City and Newport County too
Don’t forget the village team, Borough United, from Llandudno Junction who surprisingly won the Welsh Cup beating Newport County in 1963 and went on to beat Maltese opposition in the Cup Winners Cup, to go through to face a very strong Slovan Bratislava side in the next round, losing 4-0 on aggregate.
