Coup in Germany averted

It's a crazy story for it to be happening in a developed western country.

I'd have though you would need more than 50 people to overthrow a government unless you had the army on your side

Weird story for me too, as you say they would have needed a large part of the military on their side for it to be successful, and it wouldn't have been easy to quell if that were the case, it's not as easy as just telling everyone that you're the new boss.

Agreed.
However a coup in an even bigger Democracy nearly succeeded in January 2021. It provided a lesson that every right thinking person should learn that Democracy can be more fragile than we think and shouldn’t be taken for granted.
 
Tinfoil hat-wearing nutcases glued to the internet are one thing when in isolation, but when they get organised and connected...
