Cover versions better than original (merged)

Been a few cover versions of this, but this is the best and I prefer it to Roberta Flack's version

Bob Dylan once said this was his absolute favourite out of all the cover versions of his songs

I agree it's genius

Proper enjoyed that!!!
I will throw in Helter-skelter Siouxsie and the Banshees...I absolutely love the macabre twisted vocal which Siouxsie gives full throttle.an absolutely bouncing track which nobody could sing better.imo..

Disturb, Sound of Silence has to be in the top 3 of cover versions ever. I'm a massive Simon and Garfunkel fan, but, by Christ that is a cover version and a half!!

I have a deep and profound love for both these artists voices; Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin, but I've never had a situation where I couldn't separate versions and think one was better than the other. Both are compelling for opposing reasons; simplicity and complexity! Don't think Franklin ever recorded this in a studio, which impresses even more!!

I understand many don't like soul/ gospel, but these are AMAZEBALLS!!

Aretha Franklin "Wholy Holy"
