That new Kid Rock song that rips off both 'Sweet Home Alabama' and Warren Zevon's 'Warewolves of London'

The tosser wold never dare try anything like that if Lynyrd Skynyrd or Warren Zevon were still alive.

2 great songs ruined.

Er, he has been touring all summer WITH Lynyrd Skynyrd in the States, (The band, if not all it's original members are very much alive and gigging) and the band have given his using part of Sweet Home Alabama their blessing.
As a big fan of Skynyrd, if its turning young fans onto them, then great! Same for Zevon's music too.
Fail!

Plane crash killed a few of them including the main songwriter.

Exactly!

There a glorified cover band

A cover band of an original band, alowing someone else to cover the original bands song.

The world's gone mental.

Lynyrd Skynyrd lost singer Ronnie Van Zant, then recently joined guitarist Steve Gaines, and his sister and backing singer Cassie Gaines in that plane crash in 77. From 1990, they reformed with most of the original line up, and Van Zant's brother, already a succesful singer filling Ronnie's shoes. Guitarists Garry Rossington and Allen Collins were, along with RVZ songwriters in the band, and continued to be throughout the 90's until Collins was killed in a car crash. Ed King from their early days replaced him.
Hardly a 'cover band'.

You made a statement and it was wrong. It's ok, we all make mistakes.

Agree 100%. But he and Skynyrd (what's left of 'em) went on tour together about a year ago.
