My fiance - her grandad's mum has just passed away in London from this sadly. She was very, very old, but its awful. She's concerned now as her mum and grandparents were with her the week before last. I'm going to guess that sadly we'll all know someone affected by this by the time it winds down.

Yes but that doesn't give the government the right to continue in the way they are because not as may as they thought were gonna die will die. They could be saving hundreds/thousands of lives right now yet they're choosing to continue with the mixed messages and keeping most things open. It's criminal.
I agree They have been slow to react but this report is apparently what forced the change of direction away from mitigation.

Get the army in and start cracking heads.
Military Aid to Civil Authorities (MACA) may indeed be invoked Nationwide within days.

MACA doesn't just mean cracking heads though. It can be anything from medical assistance, food relief, keeping supply chains open, flood defences or anything to help keep the country going.

Shame there are an awful lot of people that don't appreciate the sacrifices military personnel make when they sign on the line serve their country.

Cases there up from 13,000 to 17,000 in 24 hours - my earlier point is that Germany is not in lockdown yet, we need to understand the reasons for their success in reducing mortality.

question is how they are reporting deaths. I've heard from a few different sources ( but never been able to back it up with solid news ) that if someone has a comorbidity and they die they are reporting the comorbitity as the reason, not Covid.

From Sky lobby correspondent. I have no idea why we can’t just simply announce things rather than having to have all these ‘clarifications’ which when it comes to non food shops shutting in London or the Mayor meeting the PM aren’t clarifications anyway.

‘Downing Street making important clarification about what may happen in London in coming days

From No10 spokesman at lobby briefing

* There are no plans to close down London transport network

* There is “zero chance” of any restrictions to travel in and out of London

* It is NOT true that people may only be able to leave their houses one at a time

* All powers for police will be visible when emergency legislation later today.

* Doesnt rule out more restrictions on bars and restaurants

* Doesnt comment on non food shops asked to close

No10 is shutting down many of the suggestions overnight about what “lockdown” might look like

However No10 does not accept the suggestion that Boris Johnson was loose with his language

Sadiq Khan suggesting he is meeting BJ today. No10 not confirming’
If he sticks to that, especially the travel, it's a recipe for disaster.
People seem to think you only need to self isolate if you are unwell, or have had some contact with somebody who is unwell.

To stop this as many people as possible, regardless of age, need to stay at home. It's a numbers game. But while you have pubs and restaurants open it's s losing game.

Pfft, because they are the master race of course
