As does these quicker tests that show people have had it and recovered so hopefully have an immunity it.
I believe China is functioning normally outside of Wuhan. I might be wrong but I thought that they were all back at work outside of one province. If they have 14 days of no new cases in Wuhan then they say the isolation of Wuhan will end.

Let's get Round 1 over and then address problems thereafter. We don't know whether these anti-virals will work, whether a vaccine will be available. There are lots of unknowns. The virus could mutate. It could mutate to a non-pathogenic form, or it could get more virulent. So many variables. I don't think anyone can reliably look too far ahead.

Some silly cow on Twitter was going on at me for having fell for all the ‘scaremongering’. She said 95% of people recover. It seems to be lost on her that using her own numbers 5% of people don’t!

A 5% mortality rate of a highly infectious virus will catastrophic. That’s before you get into those that recover but need hospital treatment - it’s not scaremongering, it’s just maths and paying attention. 10 days ago this women didn’t think it would effect football!

Should've told her that 60% of the UK population may get it (which is the rough figure being mooted) and asked her to tell you what 5% of 40 million is....

Well that's what i thought too and then I saw this.

It has to pass trials but they say 1,000s of doses will be available around May if preliminary trials are successful. That's not a full roll-out but it's significantly more positive than anything we've heard to date.

nothing in that article suggests that they can disregard the usual 12 month plus period needed to trial drugs properly.
Even if they did it won’t be available in the numbers required until next year.
Don’t forget we have no facility to manufacture it in the UK, and I expect countries that do will see to their own needs before selling it elsewhere.

Where does it say in that itll be available around May? Doesn't say that anywhere in that article as far as I can see.

My mums been on the phone in tears. My 77 year old mum with COPD and tons of health issues that this could kill her with, who lives on here own, with no good neighbours, and has falls, and in me and my sisters opinion has early dementia - she's meant to live alone and not see us for a year they're now saying.. I'd move in, i want to be with her, but i can't uproot my 3 year old from all he's known, plus we could bring it in with us each day over the next 12 months, plus i'm planning on self isolating for the next 12 weeks as i too have a weakended immune system - do i have to now stay in for a year? To get outside we have to walk along an open but thin long outside landing of flats passing right next to all the freaks who live in this block who aren't bothering to follow the distancing and isolation rules, so i don't feel i can even get any air. And my son, he's staying in for 12 weeks... he's already asking when the storm is over so he can go out. How can this be a year without me coming face to face with my mum, she will rot away, what little there is left of her will not be there when this is all over.
I'm in pieces. And my partner working from hom is making us kill each other, he's a shit. I just can't live.

Don't underestimate the power of hope.

While they're talking about playing in June/July a lot of people will have something to hope for while they're trapped inside their house for the 20th day running.

They seem to have decided that they'll finish 19/20 before starting 20/21 no matter when that happens, because there's just too many people vying for too much money, so there's not going to be any cancelling of the season. It will end when it ends.
There was a good opinion piece in the Mail yesterday saying that by the time we can play football again, we may all just want a fresh start and clean slate.
