Test counting numbers explained in full. No smoking gun.
Weak? My arse. Wearing cloth over your face stops 99% of all droplets you produce going anywhere to infect others in airborne aerosols or onto surfaces - the later being the main method of transmission. There is evidence face coverings have a "weak but positive effect" in reducing transmission of the coronavirus, Downing Street has said,A spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said ministers are still considering what guidance to issue to the public during the COVID-19 lockdown

I think it is more behavioural as in giving people confidence than anything else
You just didn’t want them to get there did you?
Bluemoon showing district signs of just being like the rest of mainstream media at the moment, pretty pathetic point scoring political nonsense on this thread today.
To be fair that is exactly what they said he broke the numbers down into post out, drive thru etcNo quite the opposite, i am desperate for them to get there and I hope the figures are true.
If it is true that the figures include tests mailed out but not yet undertaken then i would have a lot more respect for them if they made it clear.
Better to say they undertook 70,000 tests and have sent out a further 50,000 than claim to have smashed the target by 20,000.
The Government are asking us to trust them and follow their policies and by and large the vast majority have, in return I expect my Government to be honest with me.
If the true figure was 70,000 then fantastic it is still a tremendous effort and should be applauded, but i can't help feeling that there was never going to be a situation where Mr Hancock was going to miss his target.
It’s a fair cop ;)Bluemoon showing district signs of just being like the rest of mainstream media at the moment, pretty pathetic point scoring political nonsense on this thread today.
Being able to test for it before you are symptomatic is a game changer for track and trace.Could be an important testing breakthrough from the United States:

thanks I will have a lookYes, everything seems to be a 'game changer' in theory.
You might be interested in this article. Rather long, but it highlights problems that are already arising as countries gear up to the practical challenges of supplying a(ny) mass vaccine. These are the questions journalists should be asking politicians at press conferences.

it has fuck all to do with anyone other than the government in place and the NHS. To claim anything other than that is ludicrous.yeah I remember it being a huge point in the general election in December . Labour were hammering this point constantly.
another case of captain hindsight strikes again.
why have you got it political? A few days ago we had capacity and not enough patients ,now in target day we have a massive jump up to get the target and they just admitted over fifteen thousand are tests counted as they put then m in the post not actually tests done, whoever did that I would smell a massive ratAnd your point is what exactly? You're beginning to sound like Jeremy Corbyn.
Most people would regard getting from where we were to even 50,000 in a matter of a couple of weeks is pretty fucking amazing, let alone the 100,000 which may or may not be questionable.
How about a round of applause for that.
Tests sent not testedTest counting numbers explained in full. No smoking gun.
Do tell me what major epidemic we have had since 2010 that would have resulted in the previous epidemic plan put together in 2006 being reviewed? Politicians wouldn't have touched it, only PHE civil servants and SAGE members would have had any dealings with reviewing it.it has fuck all to do with anyone other than the government in place and the NHS. To claim anything other than that is ludicrous.
Doesn’t matter, we are at around 100,000. Is it 90, is it 110. Did we reach it yesterday, or will it really be reached on Monday. Who cares non of it matters a jot.why have you got it political? Did he really say that? The curve between England and the rest of the countries is quite different. As it is in different areas of England.Regional variations? The curve has been mostly the same everywhere, home countries have worked together, discussions include all

Agreed it is great we are finally set up on testing ,i am very proud of the country, what I don't like is the bullshit fed to us about the numbers,i feel they have chased a number and weren't ever going to concede they didn't reach that target,it was politicing testing I feel but for the other thread I expectDoesn’t matter, we are at around 100,000. What does matter is we are more or less there and in a position to use those tests to get the virus under control. What matters is how those test capabilities are now going to be used, going forward.
