It does state on there that “Wearing a medical mask can limit the spread of certain respiratory viral diseases, including COVID-19.” I think at some stage wearing them in shops/public transport should be enforced, as it’s been stated on numerous occasions they’re only effective if everyone wears them and it’s our best chance of getting back to some normality, though I doubt we have the supply for everyone at this time.

It’s quite obvious Whitty/Valance played it down for supply reasons, rather than scientific one.

For what it’s worth, I understand why they did it. The NHS was having a PPE crisis - I’ve no idea if it still is.

I seen so many people wearing masks keep touching them when wearing dont people know there should not be touched

The masks they use in hospitals are properly fitted and the staff know how to use them safely,medical grade is made to not let small particles through,the WHO weren't convinced on masks so can't blame our scientists really

Tell it the WHO ! They are only now advocating them and to use them properly

  • If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with COVID-19.
  • Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.
  • Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.

Yeah wearing a mask is really tricky. Since it became law a week or so ago over here I’ve accidentally worn it on my elbow three times.
