Does anyone know why these places are worse?

Would have thought big cities were where it would fester more.
Probably linked to them having significant ethnic Indian sub-continent populations - there's a tendency for those communities to live in multi-generation households including elderly grandparents which makes shielding and self-isolation more difficult and there's also a genetic pre-disposition to diabetes in those communities which increases the chance of serious illness from covid-19.

Most likely the type of communities they host, and also that a lot of workers will fall into the shop work/health work/care work bracket, and therefore come into closer contact with each other more regularly.

How can people in ICU be suspected cases surely they will have been tested?
Pneumonia is a pretty common condition to be admitted to ITU with, often straight from A&E, all community acquired pneumonia will be treated as suspected Covid at the moment.
Test results usually take 12-24 hours to come through.

Some graphs i made. Rate of cases per 100,000 people, per lower tier LA. Rate of cases is reset to 1 for start of time period to reflect relative growth from then. Top one from 1st June, bottom one from 1st July.

Scotland data good again. No deaths (only 1 in 15 days there and none now for a full 7 days for the first time). 287 in hospital with confirmed Covid (-8) and and 2 in ICU (-1)

16 new cases - 0.4% of the tests conducted.

24 cases now linked to the call centre outbreak - 17 staff and 7 of their family/contacts.
