I don't think we will see a full-scale lockdown like the one we had, the economy is simply too important to the Tories. At most, I think we will see local lockdowns, businesses temporarily restricted and yeargroups isolating from schools.

The economy is too important to us all if i'm honest, we can't have another full scale lockdown we will lose so many jobs and ruin lives. Anyone who can work from home effectively should be made to do so until Spring will instantly make public transport better.

Needs to be more ways of shielding the elderly and disabled without them being lonely and alone for months on end.

Just through I would check it out as i'd not looked for a few weeks and we have snuck up above average on the average deaths chart again. the last 3 weeks have been over ( 307, 474, 791 ) after 8 weeks of being under average.

Nothing alarming, no conclusions ( bar 3 week upward trend ) but just an FYI.

All these things are about balance. The numbers especially. Do you suppress fast and hard or let an epidemic run slowly and protect the most vulnerable.

The first case will reduce deaths in wave one but might lead to a worse wave 2 as most of your population is still susceptible to the virus when you do reopen and cases escalate again.

The second one may see a higher death toll initially but leave fewer to be seriously impacted in any second wave.

Britain seems to have gone somewhere down the middle.

And, of course, all this is educated guesswork as it depends on the particular dynamics of any disease and if immunity of any kind lasts long enough to matter. Which is all still uncertain months on.

We will eventually know who got what right and who didn't and chances are it will be more down to luck than judgement.

BBC 1 just changed schedule to confirm Boris is giving his statement/press conference/answer public questions today. From 3.45 pm BBC 1.

I had it at the start of Jan. I have had anti body testing to confirm i have had the virus.

This is the problem with Antibody tests and a virus that can be asymptomatic. people could have a bad cold/flu. then catch this without knowing it and attribute the bad cold/Flu to Covid.

Not suggesting this is the case here. just that it will happen.
