Most nations are testing more 'well' people with Covid today than we did in the past. Then everyone had to focus on quickly discovering the numbers who were ill and needed to be hospitalised as we did not know treatment protocols yet. So knowing if they had Covid or not was prioritised over much wider testing.

So inevitably everyone will get higher numbers now as more than likely we are just discovering a much higher percentage of those who have Covid than we did then.

The 5000 in March might have been as low as 5%of the real case numbers. Today we are likely finding at least 50%.
 
"Jimmie Crankie adds that the WHO says there are now 300,000 cases a week across Europe. Higher numbers than in the first peak (though more testing is a big factor of course). So she will be taking decisions to stop the virus getting out of control which the WHO warns Europe is now a risk."

I am really starting to wonder if Boris is secretly still plotting a herd immunity strategy. As this happens now so often with these decisions that they almost appear to be giving people one last weekend or week (as it was last time) to go forth and multiply the virus. Makes little sense if the concern is to stop a rapidly escalating virus from rapidly escalating. After all they had no problem giving Greater Manchester 140 MINUTES notice.

Scottish science guy with Nicola Sturgeon says there are local outbreaks in so many places now they never get heard about as they are not exceptions but commonplace.

Much the same is happening here, of course.
 
so the Northwest measures - cannot mix with folks from other houses full stop?

aside from that everything is as was?
