My daughter who is a fit and healthy young women who plays football and goes to the gym nearly every day is absolutely floored with it. Tested positive and in a room on her own at uni and says she has never felt as poorly In her life. Said she can’t imagine what it would do to an older person.

bloody hell!!

This is the thing that a lot of people don’t seem to be realising. A “mild illness” is pretty much anything that doesn’t put you in hospital. A flu they puts you in bed for a week still counts as mild.

So when they say this can give you a mild illness people should be expecting to be bed ridden for a week or so.

Even tho there are a lot of ranges with this one so some people just feel a little off

See above.

I don't know what point you're trying to make. Regardless of how easy it is, she's done her job properly by highlighting the issue and making it crystal clear that nobody should be travelling there from Scotland. My point stands that this is at least proactive and doing exactly what she should be doing, yet blue anorak who I originally replied to was (perhaps in jest!) somehow using it as a criticism.

That MEN story posted above on how Manchester is falling and everywhere else in GM is rising shows the danger of using data that is several days old. Few skim reading the story and headline will notice the small print on the picture pointing out that it dates up to Monday.

It says Stockport is rising for example when its numbers over the days since were 159, 140, 111, 100 and 95 - which is not exactly rising.

I know that the case data compiled after several days of add ons/takeaways used in these lists IS more exact because of redistribution of cases reported from any day to the actual dates of the tests (which can be spread over several days). So it makes a difference. But it does not normally alter the trend and this older data tends to tell you more about the past than the present (for obvious reasons) which is why I dont base tables in here on it.

Both sets of numbers are useful as long as you understand the difference but I have to choose one to post here as having two lists of the GM borough daily cases per town that are from today (or yesterday really) and another dating 4 or 5 days back in time would confuse in here every day.

But if anyone wants to post this other list daily it would be useful as it will show then and now so to speak. And if there are any significant changes caused by the redistribution to actual date of the tests.

The disparity in the two lists with what I call the weekly Pop score explains why the red watch list number is slightly different in that MEN list from the one I posted above. Though generally in the same ballpark overall. That list dates only to 5 days back and uses the actual cases that day after redistrubution. But over a week that will even out as most cases will get redsistributed to a day within that week even if not on the atal day reported.

As the Pop score is only published based on the reported cases each day not after the redistibted cases are calculated days later then using the daily cases pre redistribution is the only way to track it daily afaik.

Is it time to try another approach? Let a reasonably sized city or town open up fully, no restrictions. Advise the vulnerable to shield and go for it. Let's see what happens, this weird raft of stop start restrictions aren't really achieving nothing but suspicion and resentment.

Fuck it. I'm not quite sure any of us has the full information to be pulling each other on, anyway. I'm guessing, in reality that the big concern was the old firm heading south to watch the match.
Anyway enjoy your weekend, you too @blueparrot

Which city should we choose for this experiment? Good luck to all the guinea pigs there. We can all watch on whilst their hospitals get overrun and bodies pile up outside. Laughable
