Well as far as I can see, the uk government is doing exactly what i would

i don't understand what you are saying here?
Those who are dying from COVID are the same demographic as those who would succumb to flu so the overall impact of both is relevant and the total mortality rate is the significant statistic because those who die because of COVID could well have died of Flu. If the total number of deaths is significantly higher than the annual 3 to 6 hundred thousand who die from season viruses then it would be time to be concerned but currently the deaths from COVID are statistically insignificant and yet the world is spiralling into a recession based on the the type of hysterical post you are making.

Would you like to post a description of the effects of flu on the body and how it affects the lungs? Because it's the same. So painting COVID as some kind of special case is simply hysterical.
i give up,i am too tired

The UK strategy of waiting for patients to flag the illness by ringing 111 seems flawed according to recent research.

In Singpore researchers estimated between 45% and 84% of infections came from people incubating the virus. In China the estimate was 65% - 87%.

This emphasises that much more aggressive testing is required - precisely what happened in South Korea.

It will be interesting to see how that pans out for UK, and I mean it honestly.
Right now, the thing is that these worlwide measures are being taken to also prevent a larger damage to society (in the form of the health system) and consequently economy. The hope is that when the situation is resolved, back under control, we can start climbing back through our economic losses.
It's a gamble, but so is what the UK is doing. You have to pick a plan and see how it goes, right now it seems a number of officials and experts are going for one and the UK is betting on the other.

If you have one of the very small boar straws handy, don't work well with bigger ones, put it in you mouth, hold your nose and try and breathe through it,that is how an asthma patient feels, then think about what a blocked drain looks like and add that to it then that is how this feels, crude but effective way to demonstrate it

That makes complete sense.

Number of tests have risen which is the reason for the sharp increase in confirmed cases. Actual % of positive cases gone down since yesterday I believe.
Actual cases are also much higher than confirmed, even with the increased testing, with confirmed cases naturally skewing to the more severe, which should always be considered when reviewing the metrics. We don’t know the true difference, but we know there is a difference.

BREAKING
Tenth patient dies as UK coronavirus cases hit 590

Thursday 12 March 2020 15:21, UK

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK has reached 590 - up 134 in the last 24 hours.

Two more patients have died in London hospitals since Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of UK deaths to 10, NHS England said.

The increase of confirmed cases by 134 - 29% - is the largest day-on-day increase since the outbreak began in late December in Wuhan, central China.

Thursday was also the first time the day-on-day increase reached three figures.

A week ago, on 5 March, the total number of cases was 115, making Thursday's total of 590 more than five times greater than that.

Yeah me, due to go to Bulgaria end of May, payment due next week.

At this stage I'm going to pay nothing more, don't know about the small print in my insurance so not risking it. I'll suck up the airport car parking I've paid for if necessary.
