Another possibility is that it's really, really difficult to come up with an effective vaccine for coronaviruses. I believe the reason you can catch a cold every year - having already had one - is because the virus is constantly mutating. Maybe this is why its so difficult to come up with an effective vaccine? Just as it's impossible for the human body to naturally develop resistance to the common cold, maybe it's also impossible to cause the body to develop immunity by vaccinating, because the virus is always mutating to something which is not protected by the vaccine.

It seems extremely possible to me that this could be the situation we find ourselves in with COVID-19. What if the vaccines don't work on the new virus? What if people who have had COVID already, are not immune to the new variant? These are worrying concerns. It could well be the case that we are never going to get rid of this thing and our only approach is to accept that we have to live with it, and the best we can do is to try to find treatments which stop people from dying when they eventually catch it, as perhaps we all will?

The "Common cold" isn't just a few viruses to try to create a vaccine for. its 1 term for about 200 different viruses, sometimes in combination.

The BBC should really broadcast that most retailers have bought huge amounts of buffer stock which is why every UK port is currently at full capacity and there's no cause for any panic buying which is fact.

I think it’s the way the human brain works.
We presume we know more than we actually do and a bit of research soon shows that up.

Yep, Totally agree, I am far from an expert in these matters, I knew there was a combination of different viruses( Coronavirus, Rhinovirus etc ) , I was expecting 4 or 5 till I was digging then I had no idea it was 200 odd!

Its not really a conspiracy theory suggesting the government may have used this 'new strain' as a way to cover up their previous bad decisions is it? I find it concerning the amount of people take everything that they are told by the government and press as being 100% factually true personally.

Unfortunately these nutjobs have spread as quickly as the virus. Can’t get away from one of these guys at work. Strangely outside of this he seems quite normal. God knows what he is reading on social media.
