I so sorry to hear of your Mum's problems and know exactly what you're going through, compounded because of the fear of covid. I hope you are able to spend as much time as you can with her, I know I wish I had with mine.

This has been a shit year for us all and I guess we have all been ground down mentally in some way because of it being so long since we experienced normality.

Anyway, here is to a better 2021 and your mention of offering me your hand to shake with another poster didn't go unnoticed, and I would gratefully accept it.

England hospital deaths as feared with the weekend/Christmas catch up lag - BIG numbers - and. sadly, the North West catastrophic numbers. Most in UK today and highest in many weeks.

494 deaths with 109 of them in the North West.

Most of this is catch up from Christmas I should add.

If you look at the last 3 days many areas had more deaths on them than the NW did.

So this may prove a one off and unusually high. But tragic news over Christmas either way.

18 of these NW deaths occurred on Christmas Day. Imagine that being your family.
