COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I'm still suffering quite a bit mate, not slept for six nights and temps still up and down, which is just energy sapping.

I'm 12 days in and must continue to self isolate until symptoms have gone for 48 hours.

My coughing is a lot better but the Codeine Linctus the docs recommended makes me right off and unsteady on my feet.

I feel like I have aged 20 years in two weeks but I'm 46, not 48 ;)

Thanks to everyone for their kind messages.

I have literally turned my phone off for days.

Rest up, not as if you're missing anything.

Things are tough right now, but you're tougher.

My anti covid friend has sent me a stat that just before Christmas, 3300 of 4400 ICU beds in England were occupied, or the lowest percentage in some time. He's arguing they've been cleared readied for people coming in.

Now, does anyone know where ICU bed stats even are?! I've never found them in months

I'm no fan of the govt at all. They've consistently got pretty much everything wrong in my view but deploying millions of vaccines isn't easy.

Firstly the vaccines have to be shipped to the medical centres. Maybe certain types of transport are needed and how to do load 1 million bottles onto trucks - you need space to physically hold the trucks and people. Next I assume there will be some training given, then the NHS have to call people to get them to come in. People have to accept the invitation. We also need to make sure there's the transport infrastructure in place as well as the space to keep people socially distanced. Plus what about disposing 1 million bottles, 1 million needles and the PPE?

It's not that easy.
They also need to decide who to give it to, and give them appointments.

Which would have caused a different lot of potentially disastrous issues, particularly for the mental health of our kids.

People make out everything is black and white, right or wrong. The reality is that its mostly grey areas, a balancing act that has positives and negatives no matter which decision you make.
In the early 70's my School closed down due to the Miners strike (no fuel for the heating boiler), we had 7 weeks off, it was early new year so similar to now. We played football every day, found things to do and lived every moment of our "free" holidays. When we were told the school was reopening me and my mates were gutted, so much so, we cracked on we hadn't heard the news and only went back once a letter arrived at our parents houses.

Different times but I don't buy into the mental health problem for most of the kids. Send them back in March and let them have a shorter summer break in August.

I dont buy into all the optimism of Easter nornality suggested by the government and other people.
Realism suggests next year will be rubbish, I do not foresee any crowds back, any holidays or socializing whatsoever next year.
I've already wrote 2021 off and anything else is an absolute bonus.
It's a horrible pandemic and it has been a shit year, however I like others am of the opinion that there is more to this than just the pandemic now. Maybe a big reset and draconian control of the worldwide society is what is happening amongst this. If so is that a bad thing?

I hear you but the difference being they wouldnt be ALLOWED to mix as you did. So be either ambling round a field on there todd or stuck indoors.

HUGE difference and non comparable pal

Your depression is clear from your posts, i'd stay clear of the internet for awhile and go outside for a nice walk. Going down the rabbit hole into Corona Conspiracies isn't good for you.

Not talking about locking kids away so the mental health part is just bollocks I’m afraid. Anyhow I’m glad you think they have had a decent education since sept.

When are they back again? Seems a bit of a fucking mess no?

No school absolutely would have been damaging for the mental health of our kids.

Not only has their education since September been vastly better than anything in the six months before it, they've had the chance to socialise, re-establish routines etc.
