shes in the front line mate and as much if not more risk than a health worker, every day your going to be thinking 'has she picked it up today' said the other day its a train crash in slow motion,,what a fucking nightmare

I know. My mum has COPD too so not ideal if it does become widespread. I caught Swine Flu 10 years ago and I’ve never felt as ill in my life. I have no doubt this will finish off a lot of elderly people if it takes off, which I’m sure it will.

people may laugh but i dont care, today i started stocking up ordering 8 Boxes of rose wine and the same in beers, stocked up on pasta, soups tinned food etc and all toilet stuff got enough now for 3 months isolation,if it doesnt happen no loss as i would have bought them anyway, but you watch as soon as its getting widespread and the deaths anounced the panic will be on a massive scale

Completely agree that the media do not have the best interest of the public in mind and, if we are honest, very rarely ever have.

Many of us on here have been trying for a moderate discussion of the issues and trying to point out that the official response is meant to avoid complacency, which can be destructive in these situations. The middle road, as it were. We’ve called out people going OTT with their proclamations of doom, as well as those claiming there is absolutely nothing to worry about and we should all just carry on as normal. We’ve generally tried to combat the dissemination of unsubstantiated, unsourced information that leads to ill-informed understanding and problematic behaviour.

And we’ve tried to keep a sense of humour whilst doing that.

But, as you and others have said, what most often happens in these situations is that opinion polarises and everyone joins an opposing “team”.

Then again, perhaps I’ve just joined the Moderate Marauders myself. ;-)
 
My take on all this is, that this man made. The population of the earth is growing and it cannot sustain it. Pharmaceutical companies will make a killing once a vaccine is produced and I would have a bet that certain people will buy shares in such companies before a vaccine is announced

A certain scientific institute has already started gene splicing to decelerate the ageing process (tested on mice and proven) with a future goal to engineer genes to be created to be immune from future disease and prolong life - current rates have the life expectancy of the mice at +25% with increased energy levels

who do you reckon will get 1st dibs on that? The mega wealthy or the common person - it won’t be the latter

if becomes a pandemic over here I think I will be for it, had pneumonia a few years back so the knackers yard might be on the agenda

this will be part of case tracing, they will be testing as many people they come in contact with as they can.
