Get used to it. There will be people/bots on Twitter now arguing that it’s not as bad as the flu, there will be posts on Facebook saying similar etc.

The Government want us to carry on and that will continue to be the advice until they have politically no choice.

Even then no matter what the infection rate/death rate is they will praise our spirit and make a passing comment on the dead

People are forgetting the contempt in which this government holds the population. They are sitting on a report about online Russian interference, does anyone seem to care? No. “Oven ready” Brexit deal, nothing could be further from the truth but does anyone care? No, quite the opposite as they won a landslide majority. Hundreds of homes flooded and families displaced, where was the Prime Minister? Out shopping for engagement rings or finishing off his book(allegedly)

I was glad this initial outbreak happened in China because they don’t fuck about. Football, stopped, parks closed, hospitals built and everyone stayed indoors - our government and probably wider society doesn’t have the bottle or appetite

I am working at a hospital currently and they said to walk into A&E in person and be checked for my chest pains for a potential heart attack. I'm a reasonably fit person in their mid 20s with no previous cardio problems. Something tells me the country is not prepared.

For obvious reasons I don't want to go waltzing into A&E in case I have a positive case.

That’s completely deflating. They want us to know whether we’ve come into contact with someone that’s positive? This country...

We know the names of only a handful of the cases, how the fuck are we meant to know? It’s not really in the nature of a virus for it to let you know it’s going to infect you unless you run away quickly.

The message is so vague from them. “Don’t go into A&E if you have the symptoms, call 111”. Then 111 send you to A&E. If that’s how they want to play it we’re all better off saying we’ve just come from Northern Italy.

Wouldn't even know how to go about doing that. Think I'm gonna call my boss first and get his take on it, I wasn't feeling well at all so I left the hospital and made the call from the hospital car park in my car.

Can’t argue with that. They are trying to keep commerce going for as long as possible. If that means thousands or even hundreds of thousands more deaths, they don’t care. To our government this is more a financial crisis than it is a health crisis.
 
I am genuinely not taking the piss either. I just said to both people I spoke to "you are reading an online script from public health England, this could change by tomorrow or next week." They agreed that that was the case and that guidelines could change.

its surprising how many people for some reason think they are exempt from this virus and those who do just say its flu, i was talking to a guy last night and his attitude was aghhhh there only old people and they have had their life, tried to explain that ok there old but its someones grandad or father, i just walked off in the end,,a lot of folk are selfish,rude and dirty
