The problem is here we get very few days of hot weather, infact here in the NW it is not unusual for it to struggle to get above 20 and is usually well below and pissing down most of the time. So if its hot that is needed to help shift it most of Europe will be ok but we are in real bother.

It always amazed me how American tv doesn't even pretend to be subtle or politically impartial, and I mean it both ways. It's really funny to watch.
Having said that, the Trump conspiracy theorists are really absurd and embarrassing. This lady also seems to be unable to even read her prompter, but I don't expect any better from Fox news.

As a general rule though, trying to use a countrywide emergency as political lever for campaigning against the majority instead of trying to actually help unite the country and give sound advice to the people is not of great help to the population. And I'm referring for example to my country, where only Salvini partly complains (more quietly than usual tbh) against government measures to gain political support instead of following the other opposition parties in supporting the measures and advice and keeping quiet with the usual political shite.

I don't mean the democratic media are only attacking Trump without trying to help the country, I don't usually watch American tv and besides I don't actually think they would. I'm sure they're also interviewing scientific experts and broadcasting advice to the people besides interviewing White House correspondents. But laughing and giggling at how badly your president is faring isn't going to make the situation better. I especially didn't like the tone in which they seemed to enjoy saying "this could be a 'Katrina' for Trump" or stuff like that as if this situation in the end wasn't so bad because it was a way they could finally get rid of him. As if not considering that this is a real situation and Trump's demise is only a minor consequence at the moment. Granted, in the long term it can be of major consequence, but I really have the impression all of American media doesn't take the virus for what it really is and only sees it in light of Trump. Which is understandable, but not very effective.

There is no evidence this is affected by temperature so hoping that the summer is going to kill it off is a false start.

problem with italy is that it was spread early mostly in their hospitals, the first known case alone had spread it to dozens of doctors and hospital patients because they had no idea what it was. Then their health system collapsed, they lack respirators and are basically choosing right now who to treat. More older you are, less chance to get respirator. That's why the death toll is big.

Is the age of their population not a major factor also, 23% of the population are over 65 some reports saying.

When our PM is on the record stating “One of the theories is perhaps you could take it on the chin, take it all in one go & allow #coronvirus to move through the population without really taking as many draconian measures.”. Id suggest that the medical advice coming out of our government may not be there to stop the spread of this!

Sadly despite medical advances we are likely to be several decades away from such a result with Cancer. Perhaps you should think on that my my friend before your next apocalyptic post.

We obviously have a completely different perspective. In my view it is meaningless to compare the number of deaths from COVID-19 to those who would die from cancer or other causes. I can confidently predict that in 120 years all 66 million people in the UK will be dead anyway. What we are talking about with COVID-19 is additional deaths - people who were it not for this new virus would not have died.

I'll throw you a bone and say let's suppose only an additional 55,000 people in the UK die from this, compared to normal flu. That is like dropping a bomb on the Etihad stadium and killing everyone in it and yet for some reason you seem to want to downplay this. To put this into perspective this is is circa 20 times more people than were killed in 911 and that's just in the UK. 200 times more then we killed at Lockerbie.

If this is not a terrifying prospect I do not know what is.
