What we should probably have done is to isolate the vulnerable much much sooner and let the likely mildly infected people carry on and catch it. Whilst this herd immunity idea isn’t very popular, in reality it is the only way out of it, unless a vaccine is found.
Honestly mate your comment is so badly wrong, it's off the scale wrong.

This herd immunity idea is complete and utter bollocks. There is no way it could work without killing hundreds of thousands of people in the UK, destroying the health service and killing god knows how many more heart attack victims and everyone else who needed critical care, but were unable to get it because the NHS is on its back. I really wish people would stop even mentioning "herd immunity".

This virus CAN be stopped and CAN be kept under control, limiting deaths to tens of thousands, and allowing life to continue vaguely normally until a vaccine comes. But ONLY if people stop fucking about and stay indoors, stopping the spread of it. It has been shown to work in other countries, not just China. There is no alternative that doesn't result in hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. Really, people need to wake up and right now.

In all seriousness, I would have troops on the streets tomorrow.

Yep. And on that note:

I know I need fresh air so I will go to a well know beauty spot for a walk or I could just go for a walk round my local rec.. I didnt realise just how thick and selfish most people in England are.

So many people arent getting it we need to stay apart

It seems like everyone is going to the same place expecting it to be empty. The reservoir me and my wife often walk around (we’ve always walked a couple of meters apart so no change there) has gone from fairly secluded to very busy in the last week
Ha so no skinny dipping today then^_^

Just out of interest, does the government actually have the power to force people to stay at home? I only ask as I heard earlier that they were putting a bill through parliament tomorrow granting them extra powers to take emergency measures and wondered if they needed that to pass before they enforce a full lockdown.

Gordon I know they're only small islands but you would not believe how quickly the locked down the canaries last week and how well they did it.

Yep, I live about a mile from Hollingworth Lake and can confirm it is heaving. People queuing up outside the fish and chip shop, an ice cream van doing a roaring trade, its absolutely bizarre. It's like nothing at all is going on in the wider world, people are just acting normally.

I dont no the answer to your question.
But I do know we need to be in complete lock down asap.

I’ve been quite content just sitting in my garden

Quite a few powers will need to be passed before any full lockdown think that will happen tomorrow. I know Sturgeon said this afternoon a few pubs have stayed open and they can’t enforce them to shut until they get new powers from Westminster in the coming days.

That's my point lots of people here arent taking it seriously , the only way England could be locked down would be to get the army on the streets. It's being seen that staying in is being ignored. Take that tweeter of the flower market in London today. How did the local council allow it to take place today ? Who gave it the go ahead that person should be arrested and charged with breaking something !!! We are told to have no mass gatherings but someone gave a flower market a go a head ..

I know people are piling into beauty spots etc but if it was raining they wouldn’t be. It’s the first decent day in about 6 months.

that’s not justifying it just why coincidently so many out today, I am sure they are not doing it as an act of defiance, but I can’t think of anywhere worse than a packed Hollingworth lake.

Just been to Tesco to get the last bits of forgotten about the other day so that I don’t have to go anywhere to mix with others for a good week, maybe even two weeks now.

I wore a mask and latex gloves... I got a lot of funny looks, I saw people tapping each other saying “look at him”, a couple of people were laughing at me, and the fella on the check out said “I’ve heard those masks don’t work”!

I said to him; “even if it doesn’t stop me breathing it in, it reduces the chances that I’ve just breathed it all over your fruit+veg and over you while I’m talking to you!” I could see on his face he knew exactly what I meant and hopefully that will make a bigger impression on him than the thousands who think this is a joke and in some cases a jolly-up!

I saw one other person with a face mask on. He gave me a nod! Haha

But the masses are not getting this. From my mini-experiment this afternoon I’d say I got at least a funny look from about 75% of the people I walked past. Without even saying owt to me I could see in their faces what they were thinking (“haha come on you fool, think you’re taking it a bit seriously aren’t you?”)

It's staggering the number of educated...people who are basically acting as if there isn't any need for serious levels of social distancing. The world is in trouble
