I've already started to try to accept that I'm going to lose family members.

They just aren't taking it seriously .
Or they are so old that they don't give a shit if they die.

I think I’ll fall into this.
I have kidney cancer and have done 1/4 of my immunotherapy treatments. I’m 27 though and quite healthy.
Did he say UK or England?
England and you definitely are one of the people on the you gov list.

Spain has been in total lockdown for two weeks yet their cases seems to be rocketing.
The numbers are increasing but and this is important they are increasing less quickly.

Here's an example

1,5,25,125,200,300

The 200 and 300 stand out as the largest figures but the speed is slowing down. Ie not multiplying by 5 every day.

What you then want to see is this

350, 300, 250

In fact both in Italy and Spain the number of new cases is down from yesterday, if that continues for a few days there is grounds for optimism.

The young fuckers who have been breaching this who live in city centres will go stir crazy if they have to stay in for 3 months in a tiny one bed flat.

not everyone can sit in their garden.

They are doing it in Spain. A friend of mine is in a small apartment with her husband and three kids. They now have another two weeks added on.

That looks promising.

Parts of Madrid have been on lockdown for two weeks but most of the country started 7/8 days ago. And we’re not quite on full lockdown: supermarkets are open, some jobs and people are allowed to walk dogs. It’s a solid lockdown but it can, and maybe will, get stricter.

We’re at least two weeks away from knowing how well the procedures in place will have worked.

At least Putin doesn't fuck about.

Meanwhile in Wales, Snowdonia National Park was inundated with visitors on Saturday.

Emyr Williams, chief executive of the Snowdonia National Park, said: "On Friday night the prime minister announced new restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the virus. This included ordering the closure of all pubs, cafes and hotels. In the 24 hours following this announcement there have been unprecedented scenes in Snowdonia

We have experienced the busiest visitor day in living memory.
"The area has been overwhelmed with visitors. More worrying still is the significant crowding on the mountain summits and trails making it impossible to maintain effective social distancing.

Saying people can go out is giving people a false sense of security

Where are you reading that? Just had this conversation with an American colleague on the phone and she said that’s the opposite of what’s happening.
Go and read US Public Health and CDC process documentation. If a medical professional says you have it, you will be marked down as being a case in the statistics. You don't have to test positive for it.
Test results are different statistics and won't be available for a while.
The much lower deaths to cases ratio in the US say they are doing somthing different to the UK.

Utterly ridiculous conspiracy theory.... this has been a very informative forum, don't de-rail it!
I wasn't being serious. But the (in)actions being taken are not commensurate with a government which is determined to limit loss of life. That's the truly staggering harsh reality - they simply are not.

They are the actions of a body which is trying to balance the numbers of lives lost with the social and economic "inconvenience". It's mind boggling, some of the lack of action, lack of urgency, lack of imperative.

Watched the press conference. I was hoping to hear information about the antibody testing, testing strategy, anti-virals, vaccine development, the state of the epidemic informed by the data from Europe (which carries fear, but does it too carry hope?). What about a ban on none-essential work?

Instead it was hijacked by a stupid Daily mail inspired discussion about a few thousand people congregating in the open-air. That really is a side-show.

There's also a big problem about testing of London hospital staff which was supposed to be addressed and hasn't been. Did you notice how the London hospital problem was skilfuly hidden behind national data?
