Anyone else find the scaremongering from the media disgraceful?. The latest Mail headline is about a guy who contracted Corona, and died on his own in self isolation even though he was married. Nothing wrong with that, but the bit about how it started with a scratchy throat causes sheer panic now throughout the country.
Loads of people with the slightest of sore throats must shit themselves, they're just creating more fear. I've given up with the news and papers now after that latest panic story.

To be honest I think we perhaps need more scaremongering. Pictures of people in their teens and twenties, dying, might help change the behaviour of the morons. Another group of about 15 kids just sauntered past the house without a care in the world.

yup it actually would. But I can see bins not being emptied, fire service understaffed if this continues.

I work in the care industry and staff are going into self isolation every day leaving less and less people to go out into the field. Some vulnrable people are losing the care they had.

Absolutely. Primary services will slowly shut down the longer it goes on. The masses won’t care so much if they can’t see it, but if we have blackouts/internet issues, then that affects everybody. No TV or internet would create anarchy.

My daughter's a care worker. She's been told to isolate for 7 days because of a cough that's reared its ugly head.
Her symptoms appear not to correspond too closely with the virus but she's petrified, bless her.
 
My company have now advised the following as we are classed as vital to food production:

ONLY employees put on furlough will get the much fabled 80% and no one is being put on furlough.
If you go into self isolation due to a household member = SSP from the beginning
If you are off sick due to personally having Corona virus = two weeks sick pay & then SSP thereafter.

My brothers employers are exactly the same

Looks like i'm in it until the end, i can't afford to go on SSP, i'm a single Dad with teenage kids.

To say people here are pissed off would be a huge understatement.

Oh but i get a nice letter to show the Police if i'm stopped going to work ffs
