i think your going to be plesently surprised in a few days,maybe a week but i think now the transmisions are reducing its going to have a knock on effect with hospitalisation and deaths,,fingers crossed,,,i dont know how the yanks have reduced it so well

If you go back (and I don’t blame you for not doing) earlier in this thread, I was outspoken in my criticism of the Govt’s delay in calling for a lockdown and their decision to allow sport to continue. I was labelled a a nervous Nancy and doomsayer.

I’m no happy clapper but I’ve come to the realisation that most of the U.K. population are wankers who refuse to do as they’re told at the best of times and thus the Govt. had to try and work out when was the best time to ensure that the majority abided by the lockdown.

No ones thrilled at the numbers dying, but as Gelson’s Dad has pointed out to you, if we get by with around 25,000 dying, then the Govt will have done a hell of a job and CV won’t have killed as many as three different Flu seasons have done in the last twenty years. The difference being that daily death totals weren’t broadcast to a waiting populace in those years.

The whole situation is shit. But you and me and everyone on this forum (other than Blueish Swede) and 4bn other people are living through similar lock downs and with similar fears. I’m a natural optimist and I’d rather look at the positives (were not going to see the 250,000 deaths that were once forecast) than dwell on the negatives. A Govt, has a responsibility to act in the interest of the country, a full, 24/7, troops on the streets, 3 month lock down would greatly reduce the CV19 deaths but the flip side would be tens (if not hundreds) of thousands dead through suicide, financial hardship and a flatlined economy. There’s a fine line that they have to tread and I’m very glad it’s not me making the decisions.

always remember being on the dockside the day the big ship came back from the falklands,only a kid so didnt know to much what it was about,crazy scenes,a roll of the dice from Thatcher because the country was on the brink becoming bankrupt and couldnt afford to go to war,Thatcher was a hero and a villan,a lot dont give her the credit she deserved for handling that war
 
I think people are missing the point of the amount of deaths, yes it will reach a peak, but that peak is what we can hopefully cope with, once the general public are allowed back out then the virus is going to spread, even if you’ve been tested and they say 50 million haven’t had it, that means they can, until there is a vaccine deaths we will just see a yo yo, as we release and lockdown. I get a feeling a lot seem to think once lockdown is over that’s it, it’s far from it, this is just the start.

Their deaths go ever upwards but the epidemic in New York is clearly coming to an end.

Staggering really. Cuomo was keen to stress that they can not and must not let up but he must have very mixed emotions. Deaths go every upwards because they relate to admissions made 14 days ago when the epidemic was nearing its peak. In a week or so New York death figures should start to fall rapidly reflecting the current drop in hospitalisations.

I know it's not the UK but it shows that it is possible. And it will have a knock-on effect on the UK economically and medically. The UK now has its own 90 minute test but the 15 minute test they have might become available for export once they have their own house in order.

I think you'll find that the US will be lifting its lockdown very quickly.

However, the governor warned that the state’s progress could be undone if social distancing practices are relaxed too quickly.

“Remember, the 1918 Spanish flu came in three waves,” Cuomo said. “We’re on the first wave. Everybody is assuming, well, once we get through this, we’re done. I wouldn’t be so quick to assume that. This virus has been ahead of us from day one

There are also other hotspot popping up over there now

As for the supposed 15 min test,they haven't used it on this chap,one of the press pack,i am skepical

The White House Correspondents’ Association said the affected reporter was last at the White House on Tuesday, and the person’s test results are expected later today

I hope so mate. Clear positives to take from that NY graph, to see something on a similar scale for the UK would feel like a real step in the right direction.

i get your drift but dont forget times have changed in the reasearch department, i do think it will hang around and come back in waves but im pretty certain once this wave has gone and before the next we will be able to wipe the virus out completely with a vacine

the next wave will be this year lovely,once lockdown is loosened people will go mad,mass gatherings and travel will resume
