I accept his original reason for going north in the first place, don't buy the safety line (why would you come back at all if you were really worried?). Obviously lying about the reason for the Barnard Castle trip imo.

I read it earlier here and can't believe nothing more has been made of it. A hospital shutting it doors at this stage due to the number of covid infections should be raising eyebrows, the follow on from VE day conga lines perhaps, and as you say, a sign of things to come?

At the Downing Street press conference today the PM took a question from the public. Something along the lines of... How will people arriving from abroad be quarantined and who will check it? The usual huffing and puffing ensued but no actual answer or detail regarding what happens to passengers or crew on arrival into our airports.

Tomorrow morning at 7:11 flight BAW246 lands at London Heathrow from São Paulo Brazil an 11hour and 25 minute flight currently 16 mins late.

People in close contact breathing the same air for half a day.

So, no app, no contract tracing, no quarantine or plan regarding arrivals as far as the PM can tell us.

Honestly WTF is going on?

Quarantine doesn’t start until June 9th
At that point all arrivals must provide an address they are staying at.
Failure to do so will incur a £100 fine and being put up in a hotel at the passenger’s expense for a fortnight.
People with an address are expected to get there without using public transport and 20% will be randomly checked by plod. If they aren’t in it’s a £1000 fine.
That’s the plan.

Brazil are having a massive rise in covid right now,if we let them in we are stupid,not even trump is letting them in

• A person having had face-to-face contact with a COVID-19 case for less than 15 min and at a distance of less than 2 metres
• Traveling together with a COVID-19 case in any kind of conveyance.
Longer duration of contact increases the risk of transmission; the 15-minute limit is arbitrarily selected for practical purposes. Based on individual risk assessments, public health authorities may consider expanding contact tracing and management to persons who had a shorter duration of contact with a case.”

As I say, someone/anyone in the same vehicle as someone infected for any length of time (and certainly four hours), has a high risk of contracting the virus.

this will be like letting in the 3,000 AM fans for the dipper game in that caused a spike in deaths

I think we will be getting a big spike in three weeks time ,from that plane and others and everyone having a normal bank holiday weekend

Brazil confirmed cases 375,000 ..... population 210m ..... 1 in 500 people have it

Ireland, just as an example, confirmed cases 25,000 .... population 5m ........ 1 in 200 people have it

ergo there's more chance of a visitor from Ireland having the virus assuming the same number of people arrive from each country

half a dozen flights are arriving from Dublin into the UK tomorrow

is that stupid too ?

Brazil has only just got it,it has blown right up and they had 860 deaths just yesterday they are struggling and the weather is still hot ,they should not be flying anywhere as they have no control yet and have densely populated areas,ireland has had three months to sort themselves out
