Really sorry for all blues but all in general who have been hit emotionally , physically and economically by the virus.
Plenty more twists and turns to come even if a vaccine is found at some stage.
here in oz because we are a island nation and we closed the borders to Chinese travellers early of which proportionally we have a high number world wide with hundreds of thousands Chinese students studying in our schools and universities many of whom traverse between mainland China and our cities on a regular basis we have kept the number of deaths 103 to date and spikes down to low numbers each day despite a few mistakes along the way particularly in relation to nursing homes and quarantine from cruise liners and returned citizens from overseas.
Economically the response has been poor , self funded retirees given absolutely no support at all and those retirees who rely totally on rental income from a property or two they own having that income slashed.
The shutdown of business and lock down of state borders has crippled tourism , the arts , entertainment , child care facilities , many small businesses that rely on interstate travel all for 103 deaths much fewer that will die for non treatment or mistreatment of cancer diagnosis , hear disease, suicide , domestic violence and the list goes on as a result of the lockdown.
The worst of the economic slowdown is still to come especially when government subsidy runs out and the public and private debt deterioration as a result will be felt and not paid back for generations if at all.
History will show over hear the politicians and public health experts and specialists got it badly wrong massively underestimating the flow on effects of economic shutdown bar " essential services " on small and medium business which employ over half our working population.
Social distancing , good hygiene and common sense went out to dry in the main over here despite our many advantages that we had over the likes of Great Britain and mainland Europe and the USA to name three examples.
the vast majority of the mainland has never been touched by Convid 19 and never will as it cannot be passed from animal to animal , bird to bird or insect to insect.
Yet despite this many regional and rural communities have had their lives shattered many permanently by lock down and many business have already gone to the wall and will never surface again.
