Okay I did a search and found the data, You can try to fathom out to what extent the new system oerating since last Thursday is changing things. Hospital wise not a lot I think is the answer.

23 Jul (deaths on 22 Jul) - 4 weeks ago today - 19 hospital deaths were recorded from the UK (all from England). Only two of those did not occur within 28 days of that date. But only 1 actually happened on 22 Jul and the current number of people recorded as having died on 22 July in England hospitals is now 14.

This 19 hospital number later that day became 53 all settings when 34 out of hospital cases were added.

Under the new system that date is now shown as having just 17 deaths. (16 from England, one from Wales)

30 Jul - 3 weeks ago today (deaths on 29 Jul) - 14 hospital deaths were recorded (12 England and 2 Wales). All the England ones occurred that week but there were 0 on the date itself. The current number who died on that date in England hospitals is 6.

Later that day the 14 hospital deaths became under all settings 38 after adding 24 out of hospital cases.

Under the new system that date is now shown as having 34 (29 England and 5 Wales). So even the non hospital cases seem to have barely been touched.

6 Aug - 2 weeks ago today and the last Thursday before the change in measuring (deaths on 5 Aug) - 8 hospital deaths were recorded - 5 from England.3 Wales. Only 3 of the England deaths happened that week and again 0 on the actual date itself. The current number who died on that date in England hospitals is 5.

Later that day the 8 hospital deaths became under all settings 49 when 41 out of hospital cases were added.

Under the new system that date is now shown as having 14 deaths (12 England and 2 Wales). So more than the hospital totals but a lot less than the high add ons out of hospital that week.

Okay back to the regional score board and it is pretty bad news for the North West. Big rise in numbers.

Though true elsewhere too.

London 172 (up from 105) As far as i can tell the highest total here in 2 months since the new data appeared.

Midlands 138 (up from 99) A pretty normal number lately for here and not a record 134 and 137 have been two of the past 4 totals.

Yorks & Humber 143 (up from 102) but again a fairly standard total by past week or two.

North West 250 (up from 176 so the biggest rise). This is higher than most daily numbers (though not all) since lockdown.

Not looking forward to the news from GM.

This will be a result of places like where I am, Oldham asking healthy people to take tests.

The cynic in me thinks it's to try and bring down the positive % to try and avoid a stricter lockdown.
Doing the same down our way , well in Corby they are anyway , this after the outbreak in Northampton . Testing centres set up in several towns in the county.

Sadly as feared Greater Manchester looks to be heading for some tightening of restrictions not lessening as certain areas are not doing well whilst others are under reasonable control.

The GM case total today is 155 - that is a large chunk of the NWs 250 cases and the highest daily number in a week. Well up on yesterday's 106.

As feared - 1182 positive cases today. So again over 1000 from England.

But it could be worse and I think there was a record number of pillar 1 & 2 tests today also.
Many of those will be ‘false positives‘ as well. They could well be people who had the virus weeks ago will still have particles present but they will not be in anyway infectious, or just random false positives.

Greater Manchester Scoreboard

Bolton 7 (down from 13). 263 in month, 60 past week. 20 past 2 days (was 18). Pop score 762.

Bury 7 (down from 9). 182 in month. 62 past week. 16 past 2 days (was 20). Pop score 783.

Manchester 42 (up from 29 second highest score lately). Still too high. 843 in month. 253 past week, 71 past 2 days (was 76). Pop score 710.

Oldham 32 (up from 15 not looking hopeful) 721 in month. 175 past week. 47 past 2 days (was 49). Pop score 1142. Sadly closing in on Blackburn to become second worst in UK behind improving Leicester. Full lockdown imminent.

Rochdale 26 (up from 14 and worst daily number here since lockdown). 346 in month. 95 past week. 40 past 2 days (was 29). Pop score 957 (biggest jump in GM today).

Salford 15 (up from 11), 299 in month. 87 past week. 26 past 2 days (was 24). Pop score 654 (still top in GM but not for long it seems)

Stockport 7 (up from 3). 261 in month. 53 past week. 10 past 2 days (was 11). Pop score 659 (just 5 behind Salford now and will catch up and be GM leader here unless it starts to climb again as other areas have).

Tameside 5 (down from 7). 248 in month. 51 past week. 12 past 2 days (was 15). Pop sore 799. (800 club tomorrow)

Trafford 7 (up from 2). 215 in month. 45 past week (good week here). 9 past 2 days (was 9), Pop score 666. Could also catch Salford if Stockport stumbles.

Wigan 7 (up from 3). 101 in month. 32 past week (easily best). 10 past 2 days (was 9). Pop score 690.

Richard Leese, Deputy Chief of Manchester Council, is saying the restrictions have led to surge in demand in local Mental Health services. He says further restrictions will exacerbate this and further damage the economy.

Other watch areas not too good either.

Blackburn & Darwen 17 - highest in past week. Pop score 1150.

Bradford 38 (up from 29) Pop score 1084.

Leicester 53 (up from 28 and highest in some time after steady improvement). Pop score (top of tree by miles at 1565).
