Think, and I may be wrong here so please correct me if I am, but aren’t the populations of both Spain and France (and most Mediterranean countries) older than the U.K.? Surely this would have an impact too?
Indeed, as I said in the post, it is just one of the factors.
Hence why it is so glib to either blame one government against another.

That’s like comparing apples with oranges.
Spain has about a third of our population and Belgium is even less. Italy, AFAIR, have about 2/3rds of our population. Therefore you need to take into account size of population as just one of the factors in the rate of death.
Also need to take into account UK is the second most obese nation in Europe behind of all places Malta. 3rd if you call Turkey Europe.

Anyone been for a test, went yesterday and had to do it myself.
Was like trying to get in a military base,
No photos,do exactly as i say, stop there move 20yrds stop, open your car window 20mm to understand what they were saying,(sometimes).
Not to sure I got both side of the tonsils fking gagging, got up the hooter ok I think.
My opinion is maybe some might not of got it correct,
Which seems pointless if that's the case,
Never recieved the scan code either so they took car reg which came up with my details, but had to call a mobile numb,to speak with someone who by chance was fking stood by my passenger door,
Very strange experience.
Yes. I thought about my elderly parents. They wouldnt have had a clue and I bet would have ended up getting out of the car at some point. I thought it was all really over the top. I took my daughter in August. Boiling hot. And after the test, approaching the exit of the car park, I wound my window down, just for some air and this steward was yelling at me to wind it back up. He was about 50 metres away from me wearing a mask. Ive also done a home test and that was even more complicated!

Pfizer just said:
"Pfizer and BioNTech are continuing to accumulate safety data and currently estimate that a median of two months of safety data following the second (and final) dose of the vaccine candidate – the amount of safety data specified by the FDA in its guidance for potential Emergency Use Authorization – will be available by the third week of November".

Just seen a woman whose daughter committed suicide during the first lockdown said she will ignore lockdown over christmas I think a lockdown over christmas is virtually inevitable now

So many are not able to earn atm or are on much reduced wages (furlough). Because you can get it cheaper, doesn't mean its still affordable to some, or a good path to be taking

It's clearly not a good path, but it's happening there is no doubt about that.

I think they'll allow people for the Christmas weekend in limited household numbers but who knows for the rest of December.

New year is definitely not going to happen.

I honestly think some test will be void but probably put through as neg,
Yeah finished the test, had like a small padding patch,I thought do you wrap around the specimen bottle,to put in big bag, beeped my horn guy comes over, couldn't understand a word he was saying,he instead was going on about the barcode in the bag to take it out and keep it,
Fk knows what it's like when busy there was one other besides me,
The thing is someone's got paid alot off cash to set this system up,and it wont be a ex military guy,
Just hoping I get the results today or tomorrow, suppose to be starting a new job sometime this week..

It's not over the top. It's what you'd expect from people helping administer a test on people who could be carrying a virus that, if transmitted, could make the administrators very poorly, or worse. I was tested Friday and was very impressed indeed with how efficiently everything ran. The only bit I struggled with was finding my tonsils. Then I remembered that I'd had them removed at Ancoats hospital 49 years ago. Test result came back within 24hrs, thankfully negative. But, back to my original point, I'm pleased they are acting so stringently. Very reassuring.

If you gagged and your eyes watered, you likely as not did it right. And tests in a car have less chance of being void as most people tilt their head to look in the visor mirror, which opens up the throat.

An Italian athlete has been fined €400 (£360) for breaking Covid rules after his friend fell into a ravine and died as they ran in mountains near the Swiss border. Simone Massetti, 34, fell 200m (650ft), Corriere della Sera reports. Under current regulations in force in the region, you aren't allowed to travel outside your local area.

The Italians authorities are taking the rules seriously!

I can only comment on my experience. I wasn’t being tested, it was my teenage daughter, and I felt they spoke to her in a very brusque manner and I thought, if this was my 81 year old mum, she’d be in tears. I work with under 5s and their parents so I know what it is to work with the public and be at risk. You can still be polite and sympathetic if people get it wrong. Maybe you had a better experience than me, or maybe customer relations have improved since early August.

Bear in.mind as Fauci said in the usa the vaccine is no silver bullet masks and social distancing will still occur after the vaccine likely to 2025
