Covid and travel discussion

Apparently jabs will replace quarantine from amber list countries very soon..so says simon calder?
Yes but a pre departure test and 1 or 2 tests upon arrival will still be needed but yes in essence if you've been jabbed twice you won't have to quarantine.

Canaries should be on the green list on the next review, 15/7
Much as I’d love this to be the case as I’m due to fly there on the 22nd, the cases are still on an upward trend the past few weeks so I’m not getting my hopes up. I expect there will be plenty of places which do go green on the 15th though.

It isn't whether we put the Canaries on the green list or not it's what they are doing there. By that I mean their restrictions which flip and flop all the time. They are also on a red list now.

There is hardly anything open in Tenerife at the moment and they won't open until the tourists come back, so it's a catch 22. I'm not sure what they are doing over there but they can't get on top of things and Torres the man in charge changes his mind and the rules so often.

I'm itching to get over there but at this time it's just not viable even if our own government give the go ahead.

Thanks for the info and links, hopefully things will improve later in the year.

I'm not entirely sure on the legalities, however if Jet2 or whoever have a condition of carriage that you have to wear a face mask for the flight, and people turn up without a facemask and have no intention of finding/buying a facemask, then I think Jet2 will be well within their rights to refuse boarding.

What I think the bigger problem will be is people boarding wearing one, with the intention to remove it upon take off and kick up a fuss if challenged by cabin crew.
That could end up messy though for anyone acting the twat on board.
I have seen the cunts in action.
In March 2020 on a flight to Italy some thought it a great wheeze to order a drink then spend the entire flight drinking it, without a mask.

Was masking up on planes a required thing as far back as March 2020? Genuinely can't remember what the general aviation stance was and when it started to kick in?

I flew back from Philippines with Turkish Airlines on 25th Feb and although some people were wearing a mask, it definitely wasn't compulsory then. Likewise in the airports themselves; some wearing, some not.

I remember the security at Istanbul Ataturk airport when in transit back to Birmingham was ridiculously thorough. They were very interested in my passport, where I'd been, where I was going, ransacked my hand luggage....quite a few others got similar treatment. I didn't think it was Covid related at the time and thought it to be way OTT but I'd kill to go back to that now.

Little did I know that that week upon returning to the UK, the Philippines would be my last long haul holiday for a long time, followed by last gig (Editors in Birmingham 27th Feb) and last live football game (City at Wembley 1st March)

3 major life passions down the shitter for the last 18 months, sigh.

Just checked the calendar.
I flew to Italy in July not March!
