Covid and travel discussion

The return to UK test has always been anytime in the 3 days before you fly.
People often mix up outbound test requirements (often 72 hours if applicable) with the inbound test requirements (which remains 3 full days).....the Porto travel thread still gives me nightmares.

Your example is correct; a flight returning to the UK on a Sunday means you can get tested anytime on the Thursday, Friday or Saturday.....or even the Sunday if its a later flight.

Cheers. I’ll do my test when I wake up in the morning.

On a separate note, there are so many attractive women knocking about in Croatia. Makes one feel we pulled the short straw with our lasses genes.

We recently went on an 8-day break. Three days in Leamington Spa (as a base for travelling around the area), three days in Cheltenham (solely for access to the Cotswolds) and a couple of days in Bristol (sharing our time between Bristol and Bath).

My overriding memory is the amount of times I felt ripped off (e.g. £17 for a burger for the little un in a Cotswolds pub and restaurants all putting on service charges of 10-12.5% for just three of us). More so in the Cotswolds. There are usually very few places to eat but they have you by the balls and take advantage. Saying that, I feel that's the case going to pubs and restaurants since they fully re-opened again. Especially in restaurants. Now served less food, at higher prices and with service charge of 10% plus added on top of the bill. I wouldn't mind but 'service' tends to involve asking what you want and bringing out the food with the odd single syllable word thrown in.

Have to say, I was very impressed with Bristol. A great place to stay. So much going on, great use of public spaces, friendly, perfect mix of old and new, lots to do, relaxed (compared to other cities) and just generally has a good vibe to it.

I blame lockdown and retirement for losing nearly four stone and therefore having to consider replacing half my wardrobe

We're off on a staycation cruise with P&O and most of my trousers look like something off a weightwatchers advert as there's no belt on earth that's holding them up

It's a good problem to have but maybe not days before leaving ;-)

I have loads of stuff in the 38" waist and 31/21" inside leg size range that may end up on Fleabay or down at the charity shop.. I'm probably close to a 34" waist now which is frightening...

Hello from Cyprus! Easy paperwork as long as fully vaxxed. We have to carry proof and have been asked at most indoor places including supermarkets and restaurants, although most eating is done outside. We're here a few weeks so am hoping that the need to test on return the UK will have changed by then.

Interesting article in the papers today about the %of double vaxxed people returning a positive on the day 2 test being just 0.4% compared to 1.2% amongst the unvaxxed.

Booked for Dublin in early October. Just having a break and a change of scene to look forward to is fantastic ;-)

London is a great city but like most capitals, many of those from other cities in the same country refuse to acknowledge it.

one of my favourite cities in the world . Was there a few weeks ago treated ourselves to a stay in the rosewood.

Sunday lunch at Moro at exmouth market and a game of table football at cafe kick .

buzz was superb all round the city .

Yeah, concerning that 4700 new cases could be linked to an outdoor festival.
Though I guess a younger demographic likely being only single jabbed at best won't have helped things.

New review tomorrow, though not expecting much movement tbh.

Current rumours include....

Jamaica, Montenegro and Morocco to go red.
Turkey, Egypt, Dom Rep and Maldives to go amber.
Poland to go green.

All should be revealed by this time tomorrow night.

The actual traffic light system is due to be formally reviewed by 1st October (apparently).
Look forward to seeing what more chaos and damage they can cause.

Jamaica was heavily rumoured for red, along with a couple other Caribbean islands, but escapes the Shapps sword.
Morocco also saved.

Montenegro and Thailand both move to the red list....predicted Thailand a few weeks ago that they were vulnerable given their cases going crazy.

No movers or shakers for Amber.

For Green, the lovely Grant Shapps has given us those holiday hotspots Lithuania, Liechtenstein (fuck that's difficult to spell) Finland and Switzerland, along with the Azores, Denmark (don't really want us) and Canada (borders still closed though slated to open 7th Sept....but to whom?).

Thank you so much Mr Shapps, the travel industry are indebted to you putting these 7 countries on green whilst keeping popular destinations like Turkey and the Maldives on red, seemingly for no real reasons.

Though no-one knows any reasoning cos you shower of cunts refuse to tell us what data you are following.

One more review before furlough ends and the industry bloodbath begins.

Wankers.
