Covid and travel discussion

All about whether we’ll be allowed in now at the other end. With reports of 100k cases a day after the reopening, I find that unlikely.
I think they will be that desperate for the visitors we will be OK plus our high vaccine programme.

Our vaccine programme is good, but many other countries are behind us, some massively behind us.

If were recording 50-100k cases a day as is predicted soon, then many countries are likely to restrict us going there as they won't want us bringing Delta over in potentially big numbers when they have yet to fully vaccinate the majority of their own country.

Some countries may put a blanket ban on travel from the UK.
Others might only permit fully vaccinated travellers from the UK (as Portugal and Malta are doing now essentially)

From a national perspective, case rates don't matter too much as long as hospitalisations and deaths remain relatively flat.
From an international perspective, all these other countries will be looking at is case rates here, at least until they hit a level of vaccination domestically that they are happy with.

The news today was a positive step for the travel industry, but it does feel like many more bumps in the road are still to come.

I've got my 2nd jab booked in for Saturday 21st August, and due to be going away the following weekend, so I need to try and bring it forward a week to allow for the 14 day thing to elapse before travel.

I'm due to go to Gran Canaria in October, hopefully stuff may have calmed down a bit by then.
I brought my 2nd jab forward, it was easy to do.
