Covid and travel discussion

Our vaccine programme is good, but many other countries are behind us, some massively behind us.

If were recording 50-100k cases a day as is predicted soon, then many countries are likely to restrict us going there as they won't want us bring Delta over in potentially big numbers when they have yet to fully vaccinate the majority of their own country.

Some countries may put a blanket ban on travel from the UK.
Others might only permit fully vaccinated travellers from the UK (as Portugal and Malta are doing now essentially)

From a national perspective, case rates don't matter too much as long as hospitalisations and deaths remain relatively flat.
From an international perspective, all these other countries will be looking at is case rates here, at least until they hit a level of vaccination domestically that they are happy with.

The news today was a positive step for the travel industry, but it does feel like many more bumps in the road are still to come.

I've got my 2nd jab booked in for Saturday 21st August, and due to be going away the following weekend, so I need to try and bring it forward a week to allow for the 14 day thing to elapse before travel.

When was your first?

What is the recommended interval between doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines?

The recommended interval between doses is 21 days for Pfizer-BioNTech and 28 days for Moderna; however, up to 42 days between doses is permissible when a delay is unavoidable.

Perhaps change the thread title now

On a scale of 1 - 10, how gritted were your teeth when you posted that? ;)

Thread title could've been changed on May 17th tbf, although it is far from plain sailing for international travel for the rest of 2021 and beyond.

Anyone got any definitive news on the countries that are allowing entry with the Indian manufactured AZ jab?

I've had both doses but my first was one of this batch unfortunately, all gone quiet in the media since it was released last week.

Not intending going away this year but I've noticed that in the last 24 hours our usual hotel in Rhodes as via TUI gone up 12.5%.

If you're looking at getting away hope you've already booked wherever you're going.
