Covid and travel discussion

They are saying the traffic light list will be updated every 3 weeks. That's 15th July, 5 August, 26 August, 16th September, etc. The changes I believe take effect the following Weds, so 21st July, 11 August, 1 September, etc.

One has to be worried about your destination turning red when you are out there. But if you time it right it shouldn't be an issue should it? If I travel say on 19th Aug and come home on 29th Aug, I already know what colour the country is when I go, and it won't change again until 1 September and I'll already be back.

In theory any country could be moved to any traffic light at any time.
In reality, if a country is in danger of going red there will be clear flags before that happens.

Cases are very low in Croatia, and Croatia aren't putting up too many entry hurdles for UK arrivals (no test if double jabbed, if not then antigen or PCR accepted), so I wouldn't worry about it going red anytime soon. It's a good candidate to go green this week.

Get out there and enjoy.

If you know anyone in the Balearics whos not double jabbed I'd recommend they think about booking a flight home early next week...
You can't just come on here making claims with no evidence. what's your source? We know cases are rising in the Balearics.

This is why the traffic light system is completely stupid. The Balearics are the only big destination on the green list so it's obvious that cases are rising there because people are travelling there.

Even if they make it amber, the only requirement to come home from an amber country is to have an antigen test which are notoriously inaccurate. Once you're home you then have have to isolate and have 2 PCR tests on different days which is pointless because if you test positive you've already made the journey and probably spread it to everyone on your way. We are also reliant on people actually bothering to isolate properly, along with whoever they are isolating with....

Personally I'd do away with the traffic light system altogether and improve the minimum testing requirements and have more robust testing done at airports which people have to pay for.

Really considering a 10 day break in Croatia on 19th August. Can get a two bed apartment right in the beach for £2k for 10 nights. I can't see anything being different next year to what it is now, so thinking of just going for it.
2k is very expensive, but with more demand than supply i suppose holidays will be very expensive for the considerable future, unfortunately.
