Covid and travel discussion

Mother in law goes Palma Nova on Sunday, both fully jabbed and have their tests booked. Hopefully the amber doesn't affect them too much.

They will be fine then.
If you're double jabbed then amber essentially merges into green.

The only problem will be if the Balearics goes red, of which a travel person on Twitter is claiming could be a possibility due to rise in cases but also huge increase in positivity rate.

I can't imagine they'd have enough hotel beds to enforce this. If they are struggling with Border Force dealing with the number of incoming passengers, think of the operation they'd have to launch to make sure everybody returning has to go to a hotel on their return.

Paul Charles has been consistently wrong throughout the pandemic so here's hoping he is again this time.

Besides Portugal when the Brazilian variant was deemed a big threat I cant think of any European country that's been on hotel quarantine? (Turkey aside)

Yeah it seems a stretch to think the Balearics will jump from green (watchlist) to red in one announcement.
For that to happen it really should be something serious and catastrophic, not just a fairly standard rise in cases/positivity with more people heading there recently.

It does look a cert to move to amber though (negligible if double jabbed)

He has indeed been consistently wrong, long may that continue.

I think Turkey and Portugal are the only European nations to have been slapped on the red list.
Tunisia and Egypt are fairly close to home, and then the rest of red are generally long haul destinations.
To stick the Balearics on red would be an anomaly and way OTT in my opinion.

Question....
I'm 50 on 6th August and the wife has arranged for a few of us to stay at a family villa in Spain for a week from the 8th.
Everyone is double jabbed.
If one of us was to test positive before our return, would we be able to isolate back at the villa,or would it have to be a government designated hotel?

She's a rag and tried to book it from the 5th,I told her to fuckoff, the match is on the 7th.

Another problem is hotel quarantine is only at selected, big airports.

Whereas flights from/to the Balearics depart/arrive from all over the place.

How they will enforce someone landing at Teeside airport from Majorca and getting them to a hotel quarantine facility in Birmingham or London is anyone's guess.
