Covid and travel discussion

Question....
I'm 50 on 6th August and the wife has arranged for a few of us to stay at a family villa in Spain for a week from the 8th.
Everyone is double jabbed.
If one of us was to test positive before our return, would we be able to isolate back at the villa,or would it have to be a government designated hotel?

She's a rag and tried to book it from the 5th,I told her to fuckoff, the match is on the 7th.

You have to follow the local health/Covid guidelines.

It can be difficult to find out exactly what that entails, but I would go on the assumption anyone positive will be carted off somewhere (and treat it as a bonus if they can remain at a private villa or property)

The real issue with holidays is that despite the vaccine it's now a lot more complicated and difficult than it was last year when we had no vaccine!
The traffic light system is a joke and they seem to be making up new roles and creating obstacles on a daily basis.
They clearly don't want anyone to travel abroad - is the push to make us more greener behind some of these decisions?

I think the problem is that the government want to have their cake and eat it.

On the one hand they want to be seen to be allowing people the choice to travel, but on the other hand they are making it more difficult so that most people won't bother.

Of course they can't be seen to be admitting that. It's nothing to do with being greener or even getting us to spend more money in this country. It's all to do with how they look to the press and public. I can't think of a better explanation that fits what is now happening than that.

This is exactly why I went away multiple times between July and December last year.
Took advantage of cheap flights and hotels and took various punts which all worked out fine (bit of luck along the way too)
Mostly just short breaks, which aren't really viable at the moment for obvious reasons.
Certainly no regrets and I enjoyed my breaks to Majorca, Zante, Perugia, Halkidiki, Gran Canaria and Madeira.

So far this year I've only left the country once; Porto, and that wouldn't have happened if we didn't make the final.

To say I have itchy feet would be an understatement!

Yeah would agree with this.

It also means they don't have to help out the travel industry with sector specific support.
Because international travel is open and happening (even though effectively it really isn't)

Nobody knows but for me it should be a yes or no carte blanche. Will going abroad ever be the same again or maybe it will become affordable just to the rich.

It's exactly this. But that's what you get when you have a populist twat in charge of the country who wants to be all things to all men.

I was just about to pay the balance on the apartment we rent in Portugal until my wife informs me our AstraZeneca jabs are not on the approved list. What a fucking year.

@canyerdogputoutafire looks like it’s been sorted for you. Enjoy your hols!
