Covid and travel discussion

Zante on Thursday for 10 days. Tested positive on the lateral flows last Tuesday but was clear by Saturday and taken daily now for peace of mind. Berlin booked early December for 4 nights in the hope away fans will be allowed. Worse places to watch it than in a German bar if not. Planned for West Indies for the white ball T20's end of Jan 22 but although the dates are known the WI cricket board haven't released the venues so yet so in a bit of limbo now. Was hoping for Barbados/St Lucia (Green/Amber currently) but rates are on the rise.

Just back from two weeks in zante, loved the place beautiful island, non-stop sunshine :)

I'm traveling in a few weeks from the US, and that sounds right to me except that I have 72 hours before I travel to get my pre flight test. Do you know if you will have connecting flights thru another country?
Mine might be 72 hours too, actually. Fortunately I'm just connecting through Toronto.

the day 2 test does not have to be taken on day 2, it can be taken at any point from your arrival up to and including day 2.

I presume my final test leaving England would need to be at a lab as I need the results quick, but I've been told the Day 2 test can be a home/mail-in kit. Is that right?

Also was quoted 160 pounds for a Day 2 home test. I'm out of the loop with the UK testing situation - is that.....normal?!

Canada is now on the green list so I'm hoping to come back for Christmas. If I'm understanding this correctly, to come to England from a green list country I must:

- Get tested in Canada 48 hours before I leave, and show it on arrival to UK airport
- Bring my vaccination record/proof
- Get tested again on Day 2 in England (I arrive xmas eve, so that will be Boxing Day)
- Get tested a third time, two days before I return to Canada (Canadian requirement)

Is that right? Both the UK and Canadian government website guides are a little confusing.
I might be wrong so happy to be corrected but I think you can do the Antigen rapid test 3days prior to departure if you fly on Thursday you could take it anytime Monday onwards.
If a country is on the green list you don't need to prove you are vaccinated (Again happy to be corrected)
You will need to fill in a passenger locator form before you arrive. I think this is done 48 hours before you arrive in the UK.

Day zero is the day you land, the day 2 test can be on OR before day 2. You need to book day 2 test before you land and put the booking reference on your Passenger locator form. Day 2 test has to be a PCR

Canada only accepts PCR, unfortunately. And I think I still need to provide my proof of vaccination when I arrive in the UK, which itself has become a mission - vaccinations/healthcare in Canada is provincial, so whilst I have my little Manitoba vaccine card/QR code, I'll have to obtain a medical record showing my vaccines to do my connecting flight via Toronto both ways.

Thanks for the heads up about passenger locator form, will put that on my to do list.

Is it different for UK and Non Uk residents when travelling to the UK? I only ask as antigen is fine to get into UK when coming back for us so didn't realize a PCR was necessary

Interested to know how you get on as I have Canadian family

At least you have a vaccine card mate. Fat boy Ford hasn't give us one yet.
