Covid Spot Checks At Etihad

I suppose if they were to stop you from entering, then you should be possible to get your money back, and friends, as this was not included when you first purchased your season ticket.
Maybe they don’t want the hassle of this ( just yet )

The clubs don’t want the hassle of it all, or they would have done it at the first game off their own back. The amount of effort this is going to take is huge and that’s only whilst the checks are optional, if it eventually leads to entry refusal then good luck to the clubs on that one.

Just received an email saying it's being introduced. It's hard enough getting my ticket on my phone, let alone nhs app also

Dear Supporter,

Following an update to Premier League matchday protocols earlier this month, COVID-19 spot checks have now been introduced at every stadium across the league.

Manchester City started its process of spot checks at home to Burnley on Saturday 16th October for seasonal members and supporters who had purchased match tickets in the Legends hospitality suite.

At Manchester City v Crystal Palace on Saturday 30th October and at all subsequent Premier League home matches, COVID-19 spot checks will operate stadium wide.

This means you may be asked to present evidence of your vaccination status, or evidence of a negative COVID-19 test, prior to your entry to the Etihad Stadium, if you are over 18 and not exempt.

Are you match ready?

Please ensure that you have a valid NHS COVID Pass on your mobile device and be ready to present this if you are asked to do so by the COVID-19 spot check team that will be located around the perimeter of the stadium on matchday. Information about how to download your NHS COVID Pass can be found here. Alternatively, you can request a printed COVID Pass letter from the NHS by telephoning 119 or by visiting the NHS website here.

If you are travelling from outside of England, you can provide proof of vaccination that is available to you from your local health authority.

You can also take a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of your visit to the Etihad Stadium, register it with the NHS and present proof of your negative result. Tests can be ordered for free here.

Please remember that you must not attend a match if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or if you are at risk of passing on COVID-19. The UK Government’s current stay at home guidance is available here.

Whilst we strongly encourage supporters to adhere to the Premier League’s updated matchday protocols and the Club’s Supporter Code of Conduct, you will not be declined entry if you are unable to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test at this time.

We will continue to work closely with the Premier League over the coming weeks and will provide you with more information relating to compulsory COVID-19 certificates, should they be introduced later this season.

I attended 3 German games last weekend, including the Cologne-Leverkusen 2-2 on Sunday.

The local derby had a 49,600 attendance, and every single supporter had to wear a mask on public transport, and then inside the stadium until they found their respective seat.
They also had to prove their vaccine status to the stewards at the gate entrance.

All the bars were open, but you had to wear a mask whilst queueing.

However, what struck me most wasn't so much the harshness of the regulations as the respect towards authority.

Upon entering the stadium I was immediately bollocked by a steward, essentially because my mask wasn't completely covering my nose. At the ETIHAD, the Steward would have been too busy texting his mate to notice, and I would have ignored him anyway.
