craig burley

We are all living in cloud cookoo land to an extent, we've played two decent sides recently and we've been soundly beaten both times. We are way off the pace. Players like Robinho, Petrov and Zabaleta won't go into battle for us.
Ridiculous to say 'i hate Craig Burley' because he calls it right.

Can't argue with the first two and should never play together in the same team again. But Zabaleta battles TOO much, dives in gets booked, or gives needless free kicks away, from which we concede.

I fucking loved it when Setanta went down because of this prick... Now he's on espn! Not heard what he's been saying as Ive just got back but I can picture it. First class wanker.

Thing that wound me up more than this twat today were the commentators who must have mentioned 20 times about Evertons injuries and not once mentioned ours. Its like we were at full strenght and they were playing the reserves listening to them

"If the shirt pulling starts outside the penalty area but goes on into the area, the ref is at liberty to give a penalty."
WTF rule is that then?

If a foul starts outside the penalty area, but continues inside it, then it's a penalty I'm afraid. Can't quote you the exact number of the rule, but that's the right decision. They don't always give it for holding and shirt pulling, but it was technically a pen.

Pretty stupid by Micah because it was fairly blatant and gave the linesman the right to give the penalty, but the foul didn't even do anything to help prevent danger. Let's not fall into the trap of blaming the officials for tonight. We simply got exactly what we deserved from a game where we were decisively second best throughout apart from maybe in the opening minutes.

i have the law book infront of me...there is no law for advantage, nor does it say anywhere in the book (that i can find) that if a foul is commited outside the box then continues in the box its a penalty...there is also no definition of advantage

i thought the decision at the time should have been a free kick

not that any of this makes a difference to what happened, just thought i'd try and clarify the point!

Burley's on TV 'cos he's a gobshite who's prepared to make sweeping statements in a love him or hate him style. Really he's just a typical ex-pro who's understanding of tactics is little beyond the average supporter's. According to people like Burley teams should ALWAYS play 442, get the ball in the box early, hit the big man, keep it tight, and run around a lot. British players are honest, foreigners aren't to be trusted and clubs like City shouldn't get above their station.

It's no suprise they're aren't any top British managers if simpletons like him are typical of people going to the coaching ranks.
