Redmond, Pointon and cash for Ricky fucking Holden, one of the worst players ever to wear the shirt, is not only the worst swap deal ever done by City, it must be a contender for the worst swap deal done by any club anywhere in the world ever. Absolutely shocking business. Reid, wasn't it?

Ricky Holden was, apart from David Brightwell, the slowest footballer ever to play for our club. Yes it was Reid.
What was worse though, he did it to spite Michael Hughes who had asked for £25k!!!
Not strictly a swap deal, but selling Hughes for £400k and then paying £500k to replace him with Alfons Groenendijk, who made Holden look like Usain Bolt, was another Peter Reid masterstroke.
Forgot about Bish & Tricky Trev for Mark Ward. Ward wasn't a bad player but nowhere near worth what we paid for him, and what we lost as a result

May have been to bank cash calls at the time but some of the sales followed by buys were unbelievable:

Proceeds of Hartford Barnes Owen Watson Kidd Clements spunked on Daley, Robinson and Lee

Proceeds of Steve McKenzie spent on Kevin Bond, Aage Hareide and an old Asa Hartford.

Proceeds of Garry Flitcroft spent on Nigel Clough, Scott Hiley, Michael Frontzeck, Mikail Kavelashvili and Buster Gonad.

Trevor Morley and Ian Bishop for Mark Ward

Shocking

I've heard this loads of times and it still puzzles me to this day? Mark Ward was on the verge of the England squad when he arrived at City and to me was a cracking little player for us, scoring some very, very important goals - especially in the relegation run in at the end of the 89/90 season.

I agree Bish was a cracking prospect but Morley was hated by the Kippax for the majority of his time at City, only winning them over really late on.

Swapping Walsh for Creaney was one of the worst pieces of business committed by any City manager. Ever!
