Cressida Dick resigns

Should have gone years ago appauling mismanagement culminating in disasters of Covid enforcement, atrocious amounts of knife crime and really high profile policing issues.

So predictable however that she sailed through all that but got ousted for some leaked hate speech private texts between some dickhead coppers, speaks volumes about what those in charge actually want from the police force these days.

She was in charge of an operation where an innocent man was executed. That alone should have been the end of her police career. But it seems that there is no deterrent to being incompetent or even a criminal in the police force.

Unless you commit the ultimate crime of stealing a Jaffa Cake that is. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...paying-90p-too-little-for-charity-jaffa-cakes
Need to get rid of Khan now in order to bring law and order to the capital. He and Dick both have blood on their hands!

I think what is the most worrying state we are seeing across many many institutions and Governments across the world is an "I am right I cannot be wrong " mindset at the top. The best places I have worked in have been run by people prepared to listen.

The Cressida Dick report to Sadiq Khan that caused him to withdraw support
Dear Sadiq - my plan is
1/ Sack a couple of wrong 'uns
2/ Limit Jack Reagan to one case of Scotch a week
3/ Diligently have Saj's brother investigate Partygate and find there was nothing wrong
All the besy
Yours
Cress.

I haven’t seen any crime trend figures published / discussed in all the mass media coverage of Dick’s removal. I don’t know if the crime figures have improved or deteriorated under Cressida Dick but if the Power’s that be were really interested in policing, the crime stats would have been considered.

Edit: had a quick search and overall crime is down in London but violent crime hasn’t changed much https://ukcrimestats.com/Subdivisions/GLA/2247/

She'll no doubt leave with a very nice pension and probably a chunky golden farewell. She'll certainly be made a dame/baroness and maybe even get a cushty non-executive directorship somewhere.

Don't work too hard folks, failure is an option.

She’s already a Dame.

She’s probably worked very hard but hasn’t done the business.

Some of this is her fault but parts of the system are fooked. I heard on the radio this morning that more money is spent on regulation of the police than is invested in training coppers. Recruitment is based on hitting political targets. Whoever replaces Dick has a workforce that reflects trends in society too, that won’t make policing easier.

Dick's already a Dame. I do agree though that her failure will no doubt be rewarded with yet another well paid, high profile gig. Sadly, that's just the way it is and always has been.

I don't begrudge her, her pension. In climbing ladders, you levitate to a point of incompetence and this was clearly a gig too big for her, but that doesn't detract from her committing forty years of her working life to policing.
Just hope whoever replaces her shakes the tree hard to remove the rotten fruit.

I'm using ladders all wrong.

I'll be surprised if any tears are shed for this dreadful woman. Least of all the family of Jean Charles de Menezes. Dick should have resigned from the Metropolitan Police in 2005 when he was shot dead by her officers who mistook him for a terrorist suspect. How she survived that monumental clusterfuck at the time is astounding. Since then, she's overseen a succession of fuck-ups, most of which would have seen anyone with a modicum of integrity and self-respect resign in a heartbeat.

Good , fuck off , well done mr khan

Dont give the job to either of her deputies as they are part of the problem , maybe have two commisioners , split responsibity for different parts of the met, it is too big a job for one person

She still has time to save her mate boris though
