dreadful batting, especially the top order, openers are a massive problem, while they consistently fail it gives no chance to the flair players, stokes and buttler etc in the fact that they have to play like openers because they are coming in too soon

root is suffering but will he give up the captaincy

    It's barm so STFU.
He'd struggle with this batting line-up, when he was captain he had the likes of Boycott, Gooch, and Gower in the side. I think only Root has a test average over 40 in the current lot.

True but he faced bowling attacks a lot fiercer than the current ragbag.
We've not had a Captain fit to lace Brearley's boots since (Athers the nearest candidate).

not good enough and questions should be asked ?? (NO DEMANDED) like root as captain jimmy and broad still the leading bowlers and part time spin and 4 wicket keepers in the batting line up ??? also the opening pair are a joke, but we all know nothing will be done and when the ashes are lost again then shit will hit he fan and everybody will be up in arms

i seen this mess coming 3 years ago ?? there was no plan in place long term and to develop a couple fast bowler who can bowl at over 90mph and full time spin bowler to hold a end up, then the batting shambles of alastair cook being the only player to open the bat and then to keep changing his partner every game, there was nothing in place like youth or from the county league

WHEN YOU LISTEN to the likes of boycott botham and a host of explayers calling for changes in the last ashes tour 2 years ago says it all really, they listed all the troubles and called for change at the ECB never mind the team and squad, even the biggestt things like perpetration before a test series like warm up games and test players playing cricket over seas a couple of season before each ashes tours, even the littlest things like being 12th man being on duty on the boundary when the other team is waste time with getting the ball back its the smallest things but they been something

forget the ashes this summer they are lost already ?? you think australia have not been clued up they have had players in the county leagues and 20/20 they know the conditions they will be under and what is needed in england and they always find somebody new to hurt us
