Root had never wanted to bat at three so cannot really fathom why, with all the other changes this summer, he hasn’t gone back to four.

Root needs to be relieved of the captaincy to concentrate on his own batting. Australia so much better than us in this game. Very disappointing

shambles is all i can says really ???
even with the rain in manchester over last couple of days ?? england still can not bat and give our bowlers something to bowl at and attack them and what more can i say about root and his poor form and being captain the lad looks like a break down ready to happen

Denly roy Bairstow buttler Overton are not good enough for test cricket and root needs to be stripped of the captain role and just let him bat at 4, i like burns archer stokes leach and broad woakes is ok when fully fit, but the batting line up is missing and its buffet food to the Aussies and help yourself stuff, we are not defending that score tomorrow or chasing it down and winning this test and the only hope is the weather or bad light or somebody breaking in and digging up the wicket tonight

I just think Australia have bowled really well this match.

Surely they will drop Warner in the last test.
