George Bell is an excellent prospect. He plays for Alderley Edge in the Cheshire County Prem. Not actually their best player(!), but he's young and has a really good chance of going all the way to the top.
Decent with the gloves as well.
Been impressed with him today and up at Blackpool was it? Both knocks showed character and touch.

This one day cup is really good as our “stars” are away playing 16.4.

The scores are lower, but all the counties are in the same position and we’re seeing some good competetive cricket.
Perhaps the time has come where we have too split.
Contract for Cc and one day cup.
Contract for bash it.
Im not sure how but 4 day should be the priority.I fear for the long game kids are all into bash it game.
T20 is fine but The 100 is a joke,we have stopped normal cricket for it

Sadly the bish bash bosh pays for the 4 day game. Why would counties put their resources into the long format when they get paid far more for sloggers?

That's what makes him (Bell) stand out.
Jones (Toft CC) who has effectively won us the game today, George Balderson (Hyde CC) who got us off to a good start and Danny Lamb (Bramhall CC); all these have come through the Cheshire County League where they are going up against some experienced and very talented cricketers. They need to learn fast and Bell has that swagger that belies his years.

There will be less 4 day cricket moving forward, I have no doubt about that whatsoever.

They can then fit in all the one day, t20 and hundred stuff they want.

I remember him playing against Hyde for Nantwich, a few years back. Previous night he'd played in the Roses at a packed Old Trafford and then on Saturday he was batting in front of about 100 people at Hyde. He was giving it some chirp when he came in and then was out without scoring!!!!!!!!!

Parky played for Urmston in that league. Saw him get an 8fer!

Going back donkeys years, my uncle used to open the batting for a team called Staley, their top/middle order included Harry Pilling and John Sullivan who were part of the first great Lancashire one day side.

Faf DP playing for Rammy about 12 years ago had some ridiculous games with bat and ball, only played as the ECB changed rules on Kolpaks saying he wasn't good enough to play for Lancashire again. Rarely get a decent pro in that league in the last 20 years.

Cheshire County League rules mean you can pay as many as you want plus an overseas.
Funny but not many going that route since Covid!
You don't get the 'big name' pros but young lads are given opportunities so then get in the Cheshire/Lancs junior set ups. Add to that a huge investment in youth, from the clubs, and there's a pathway to playing at least Minor Counties cricket.
The Central Lancs used to have the likes of Garner, Moseley, Richards (he was a Rishton) to name but a few.
I used to work with a guy who played for Rammy in the 80s and 90s and he would tell me some of the players he played with and against. Unbelievable names.

Don’t know this Hundred cricket am not warming to..

Also next year be the first time in 130 years that there be no test match in august in the ashes series so they can priorities this Hundred cricket!!

They obviously don't want a situation like this summer where players are leaving their Hundred teams to go and play test cricket, hence weakening the competition.

I'm not saying I agree with it but I think they're keen to make The Hundred a prestige competition so they can attract more of the world's best players like the IPL do. For me, and I have actually enjoyed some of the games, it's a tournament too far in an already crowded English summer but money talks and cricket is evolving so fast these days with more focus than ever on the shorter formats.

The Ashes is sacred IMO and should always take priority over other competitions, and it's going to be weird that next summer's series will be completed by the end of July. I remember the days when an English Ashes summer pretty much encompassed the whole cricket season and the Australians would spend about 4 months here. I've just been looking at the details of the 1993 series and the Aussies played their first warm-up game on April 30th 1993, with their last game being the 6th Test at The Oval which ended on 23rd August 1993. Along with the 3 ODIs, they also played a few one day games against county and minor county sides, nipped over the Irish Sea for a one-dayer against Ireland, and also played an astonishing 13 3 day matches against county sides which is only 4 shy of the full County Championship season back then! Incidentally, Lancs were the only county to beat them in a 3 day game that summer!

Yep that’s the problem to much cricket! I’d love us to play 6 test matches against he Aussies with around 10 20/20 games forget the 50 over games!

England test matches and England 20/20 games I always look forward to and Lancashire too..

Talking to players while they are playing adds nothing to the coverage. Bloody stupid idea and for me the format just doesn’t work.
