if we win then it's fine, all rosy in the garden, the moment we lose then we criticize.
I don't think that will ever change in any sport, even in test cricket,
we need to see a future and plan an idea to get behind and believe in long term, for far too long the ECB have let test cricket to fight on its own, all we wanted was a future and plans in place, I can go back to the ashes down under in 2017 when Geoffrey Boycott called it right when saying where is the planning, Jimmy Anderson stood there taking the blame instead of Joe Root the captain, Jimmy even said it may be the last time a play down under in the ashes ? that was the stand-out call for me, The ECB was not interested in Test Cricket how could they when jimmy toured again 4 years later,
If this is the plan by the ECB to push test cricket forward towards the ashes, then I feel it's more a gamble than a plan
I think planning has been the issue. Too long spent planning for an Ashes series. Pick the best team for each test rather than worrying about a series 2-3 years away.
We need an overhaul of the county game to produce world class traditional test cricketers. Stokes and Baz have said fuck it, let's revolutionise things and start swinging. So far so good. The Ashes will be where it lives or dies. But let's not forget we were fucking shite playing to stay in! We would have been out for less off a couple more overs playing that way!
