I reckon Channel 4 have struck oil here. Lockdown, cricket on all morning and before any football starts.
Just need some decent cricket now.
Left field this, but I have to say, I just love seeing your name on here. I think of DJ Nipper and “that tune”.
Every. Single. Time. ;-)

BT's contact with Cricket Australia ends this summer. That also includes the Big Bash for next season as well as The Ashes. If Channel 4 do a good job in the next few weeks and figures are high i would expect them to bid

the ECB done a deal with the government to show free to air test cricket and it was spilt with a major broadcaster like Bt-sports or skysports ? no home test games ??

Root, sorry, "ROOOOOOOOOOOT" and the lads will be on the case. @ancoats will back me up here!

yep england test cricket should be live on free to air and should never have been sold off by the ECB in the first place
but we know how tv sports work and its money based and sponsorship and adverts so the BBC are never going to win biding rights

a whole generation of kids have missed out on test cricket because it was took off free to air and other sports have cashed in with kids playing all sorts of sports other than cricket

i used to love street cricket as a kid ? one kid batting the rest all fielding and the gold rule of garden and out
we even use to make our own bats out of old pieces of wood hahahaahah

Sky hold exclusive rights to Englands home test series. The deal was around £1B until 2024. There are stipulations with that though and they are 2x T20 games must be shown on free to air TV and that deal CANNOT include exclusive rights to away series as it would be classed as a monopoly.

Thats why away series can be bidded by any UK TV company including Sky, South Africa last year and Sri Lanka this year were shown on Sky as they were the higest bidder
