Interesting to see how wicket will play in next match during night ...if there is dew it might well juice up wicket , make difficult to grip ball , add some seam movement and favour England ...going to be interesting next test

That was a fantastic post match response from Root no excuses didn’t moan was positive and very complementary to India.

Yeah I thought that. We were outplayed. The toss shouldn't have that much impact and the pitch was appalling but still, they managed to get two decent scores on it and we didn't so they deserved the win. I don't think us winning the toss would have altered the result.

1-1 is still excellent and we just write that one off and move on. Hopefully the day-night test gives our bowlers a bit more to work with and we can bat a lot better and get a 2-1 lead. It's a very very good India side and an England side that's been away from home for a while in bio-secure bubbles and with a lot of changes as a result. We've shown great character throughout and it would be wonderful if we could at least draw the series.

Moeen Ali going home?! Did he play to rest Bess because seems pointless playing him for one test than send him home! Like Butler but he played in Sri Lanka.

Bet England play just Leach and an extra seamer in the next test match thinking it will swing more being a day night game! Well at least Root can bowl.

done so home work for the next day and night test and the ground and wicket ?
looks like a good modern ground for multi sports and a drop in wicket for cricket. now the downside to the drop in wickets is from test matches down under in australia they are uneven bounce and take spin from the first day

so the coin toss will be again key ? but england will now the pink ball does a bit in the air and will pick up dew when its turning dark. i think england played 2 or 3 day and night test and did alright in the first one vs west indies

any way here is a short video of the next ground and wicket for the day and night game

Need for standing umpires remains, drs is there to increase the efficiency. Without umpires every appeal would be going to the third umpire which will drastically increase the time duration per innings, plus it will make the cricket boring. Further, since drs isnt run by ICC it will create more complications and controversies
Completely misses the point that DRS only applies to an extremely small minority of matches too, and you have to be on to control the game.

Sounds like Ali has gone home because he wanted to.

I know he’s had problems over the past few years and if he isn’t right mentally then it is absolutely the right thing to do in letting him go home, but I’d ask the question why are they so bothered about getting him back in the team?.. he isn’t good enough with either bat or ball so just leave him be.

Can't blame him for wanting to go home to be honest, spending all that time quarantined in Sri Lanka must have been difficult and despite 8 wickets in the match he got whacked. Enjoyed seeing him knock a few sixes this morning, difficult to see how he plays test cricket for England again.
