This is a pretty shameful effort….
came into the innings with a massive opportunity to win but have basically pissed it away by not taking the initiative in the early part of the innings

could have tried to get the scoreboard moving with half decent running and they’ve basically fallen asleep

The kiwis are in charge now and look like they will win from here

We’re too negative, been going backwards in test cricket at some rate in recent years

There is one session left. Unless there is a major collapse the game will end up a draw

Run rates are generally much lower on the last day of test matches. Uneven bounce etc.

New Zealand scored less on the whole of day 1. It was never happening on day 5.
 
You really thought we were going to try and chase 273 in the afternoon on the 5th day ?
It was only a RR of 3.64. Unless some quick wickets fell within the first 30 overs, I expected at least some intent from England.

Sibley is one of the most negative players I have seen represent England in recent times.

The only talk would have been about securing the draw, it’s not been a free scoring pitch all test.
