The Aussies are a very formidable team. Well done Nat Sciver with 148. Needed Beaumont or Knight to turn up. Especially disappointed with the former in this tournament.

County Championship starts this Thursday, with bobble hats and ski-visors likely to be more de rigueur than caps and sunglasses. Surrey up at champions Warwickshire while Lancashire get to sit by the radiators for another week, assuming they can afford to put them on, before traveling down to Canterbury; Lancashire I believe are currently ‘warming up’ at Loughborough where today’s start has been delayed due to ice in the outfield!

Another season of sandwiched tournaments to accommodate more short-form games- so much for learning from the winter woes- but this really does feel like an early start. Perhaps North Face should consider branching into cricketwear.

‘Summer’ well!

It was the same in April 2006 the warm up v Yorkshire was affected by hailstones covering everywhere.

Usually the Windies would be playing at Chester le Street in April with 4 layers shivering in the outfield.

Ah well, it’s “character building” for our prospective test players.

Nothing like leg spin at 4 degrees centigrade.

Parky by name, very parky by temperature.

Yes, I always thought that invitation was an ungentlemanly exploitation of English conditions. The Nottinghamshire team photograph took place in snow the other day. Think this might be the earliest start ever.

And we wonder why we don't produce test players, sticking the 4 days game at the start and end of the season.

I’m sure the ECB schedulers were patting each other on the back when the country was basking in unseasonably warm weather a fortnight ago. Suspect the players would like to show their appreciation, too, though it might be less than complimentary.
